Competition: Destiny’s Child

Finished
Destiny’s Child

Your task:

To create a music playlist that you listen to while playing Destiny, and describe what activities you would be doing during said playlist.

If you do not own Destiny, create a music playlist that you would listen to while watching someone play Destiny, and describe what activities they would be doing.

For example:

CRUCIBLE:

I picked these because they represent how I feel when playing the crucible, and they're some good music!

How To Submit:

In order to be valid, any entries must:

  • Contain a minimum of five (5) songs with no limit to how many songs you can list. (Note: spamming songs for the sake of length will result in a lesser grade.)
  • Explain why you chose the songs for the chosen activity.

Linking to Youtube (www.youtube.com) for song references is not required, but it will help your chances of placement to include them.

Submissions should be in the following formats:

  • PDF Formated Document
  • The Text-Field of the competition itself using Markdown formatting.

I will not accept Google Docs links or shares: you can use the File -> ‘Download As’ option to generate a PDF for submission.

Markdown Template

For the lazy, here is a Markdown template.

* [1. Song Name - Artist](https:link.com)
> I picked this song because I like turtles/explanation text.

* [2. Song Name - Artist](https:youtubelink.com)
> Explanation Text

Grading:

Playlist entries will be graded on how the playlist relates to the chosen activity, while also taking into factor your reasoning for why it was included in your list for that activity. There will be some grader bias, but I listen to just about anything, and can appreciate all music!

Good luck, and happy music hunting!

* [1. Caffine - Jeff Williams & Casey Williams ft. Lamar Hall](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5LlZ9b3HQU)
> Jeff Williams writes the scores for RWBY and Red vs Blue, and provides some of the best hard-guitar rifts and drum beats. Casey Williams has the perfect counterbalance in her vocals with her pop-rock skills. The song is about getting an adrenaline boost from caffeine, and I tend to have a nice large ice coffee before sitting down for a Destiny binge to raid or run Iron Banner. Important way to start things off as my game tapers off as I get tired.

* [2. Mjolnir Mix- Martin O'Donnel (Halo 2)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O9K7E3lDRU)
> Perhaps one of the most iconic opening guitar rifts in Video Game history. Halo 2 was a huge deal, and the first thing you're greeted with when you open it up is the familiar but haunting choir chanting...that fades to the background as a deft finger slides slowly down the string of an electric guitar and starts a long screeching wail. Called the Mjolnir remix, this song is, without a doubt, the only thing to march to battle against the forces of evil to. The tribal drumbeats meet a string ensemble that battles the hard guitar rift, driving adrenaline and fueling killing sprees of all kinds. (This is appropriate because Marty got to do the original score for Destiny because of his history with Bungie).

* [3. Headstrong - Trapt](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O9K7E3lDRU)
> "Headstrong to take you on/
> Headstrong to take on anyone/
> I know that you were wrong/
> We're headstrong, we're headstrong!"
>
> I'm not really the best Destiny player. But I don't like to give up, and can be pretty stubborn and proud. This song, while old, is a classic pillar of mental fortitude when competing against others that are better than you.

* [4. Turn Down For What? (Cover) - Upon a Burning Body ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wf9muPlL6o)
> In this punk cover of Dr. Snake and Lil Jon (yeaaa)'s hit song, Upon a Burning Body adds a brutal twist with the help of none other than Ice T himself. Already the ultimate f-stuff-up song, the punk cover takes it to another level of high-energy. Perfect for killing minions of darkness or waxing level-bosses in CoE.

* [5. Wrecking Ball (Cover) - August Burns Red](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-Pjdb8_uKw)

> I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL!
> ALL I WANTED WAS TO CAP THEM ALL (Zones)

> Zone Control for Wally is about barreling into a zone controlled by enemy and attempting to Universal Remote/Shotgun + Blink + Blink Strike anyone in the way and clear the zone for friends to move in. While this is probably better suited for Bubble Titans, Wally-badger don't give a damn. #HunterPlayingLikeATitan

(Honorable Mention)

[All By Myself - Eric Camen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzoazPPC7b8)
> Anytime you similarly find yourself trying to take a zone by yourself, you can't help but start singing this power balad. "Aaaaaallll by my seeeeeelf"

Below are a series of songs pertaining to **Destiny** activities.

#### Crucible

* [One Good Reason - Celldweller](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njCFs7J7w-s)
> This song just pumps me up like few others can. You just start headbobbing and go into a zone where everyone must die. Everyone... even my allies if the game would let me.

* [The Bird And The Worm (Instrumental) - The Used](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLxpdMYI13o)
> Words can be a distraction, what you need is emotion. This is one of those songs that breeds the emotion of conflict. As before, this gets you into the zone and you just hammer away. The Iron Banner belongs to the worthy!

* [Not Gonna Die - Skillet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgmpWkUcpjo)
> Again, it comes down to a rougher song that hits hard and keeps your juices flowing. Keeps up the motivation to pwn noobs, even against your betters.

#### Heroic Strike

* [Jars - Chevelle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQeHSC-kwlk)
* [Welcome Home - Coheed and Cambria](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0H3RlaQVrM)

> Enter the head bobbing tunes! I don't like to rely on others in order to be successful, so I need something to distract me from, well... them. So anything that I can sing along to. These songs are something I can veg out along with while doing my thing.

#### Patrol

* [One Thing - Finger Eleven](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FQO1fj1MJU)
> Honestly, running patrols can be seen as a necessary evil for getting crafting material. A chill tune like this lets you just zone out and carves away the monotony of it.

Destiny Story/Patrol

> Have you not seen the video I made? Seriously.

* [3. Lonely Soul - U.N.K.L.E. feat Richard Ashcroft](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pwCgBhvck8)

> Same reason as above.

* [5. Faces - The M Machine](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvIYod5mMc8)

Destiny Crucible/Strikes (Multiplayer Activities)

> This song has a very good combination of rough and calm moments.

* [3. Wish - Nine Inch Nails](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuoFiIFkdAA)
> I mean this could’ve easily been a list with 5 tracks from every single artist, Wish in this case is one of those tracks that’s just complete, not too little, not too much.

* [4. QWERTY - Linkin Park](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP-8qFJ7pZo)
> A hidden gem that not everybody knows about.

* [5. Another Brick in the Wall - Pink Floyd](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR5ApYxkU-U)
> Maybe not as “hard” as the others in this list, but the entire track (and freaky video) just summon a whirlwind of emotions that are perfect for shooting people.
