Purpose: Great competitors always want to know where they stand when stacked up against their peers. This Invitational tournament will bring together the most skilled and active members of the Brotherhood to see who is the best warrior in various aspects of DJB gaming.
There will be four brackets for this first invitational. They are JO guns, JO sabers, JA guns and JA sabers.
Participants: Seeing as this is an invitational tournament, the organizers of the tournament will invite ten (10) members from the general membership of the Dark Brotherhood to participate in each bracket.
One member from each clan will then be designated by each clan summit to fill out the bracket of sixteen (16). Clan summits will be allowed to use whatever criteria they wish to decide who will represent their clan in one of these Wild Card slots.
Format: The Invitational will consist of two rounds. The first round will be in Round Robin format consisting of four (4) groups of four combatants each, for a total of sixteen (16) participants. The four groups will be randomly selected from the sixteen participants to assure each member has a fair shot at advancing*. The four combatants of each group will play each of the other members of their group twice, each time playing a best two-out-of-three match, with each game played to five (5) kills.
At the end of the First Round each player will have played six total matches (two against the three other members of his group). The top two finishers will move on to Round Two. The winner of each group will be designated with an A, and the second place finisher will be designated with a B.
The Second Round will consist of the remaining eight competitors and will be run as a single-elimination bracket. The winner of each bracket will play the runner-up of another bracket and then the bracket will continue from there.
The Quarterfinal and Semifinal rounds will be played in a best 3-out-of-5 format. The Finals and 3rd place match will be a best 5-out-of-7. (The losers of the semi-final rounds will also compete in a match to determine the third place finisher.)
