Grand Master Sarin will be returning to the position of Deputy Grand Master.

Sarin brings with him substantial experience, a heck of a work ethic, and a demonstrated ability to work with me. He has been continually advising me on my own projects and on several others that have been floating around on the DC level. Moving him from the role of unofficial advisor to official one is a real no-brainer. It is my opinion, and that of the Star Chamber, that he will be an exceptional re-addition to the Dark Council. Welcome him back, everyone.

Look for a report/news post from him shortly.

Specifics:
My favorite holiday is St. Patrick's Day and in celebration of this
wonderous day, I have wondered... what would the Herald's Staff look like
if they celebrated this drunken holiday? Well, give me your interpretation
of this. Would Shikyo hold his own in a drinking contest with his Praetor,
or was he praising the Porcelin involuntarily? Design this image in
whatever graphic program you may have. Top 3 places will get 2nd level

The Last of the Rite of Supremacy Awards http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/post.php?id=5749 EDITED – See: 1st off-week results
Off-Week Gaming Results

As you know, Novae were promised to the top CF-hunter-gatherers, and here they are. Finally, right? May I ask you to accompany me as we congratulate the following people on their outstanding performance during the Rite of Supremacy clan-vs-clan-relaxation-period.

– 1st off-week results–

1st place: Jscumm – The lone Arconan, a great job with 106 Clusters of Fire.
2nd place: Angelo Dante – A tremendous effort and not too far from the first place scorer with 98 Clusters of Fire.
3rd place: Cado H'darr – A sound scorer for third place with 90 Clusters of Fire.
3rd place: Solus Gar – Previously the fourth scorer, now third with 82 Clusters of Fire.

Note: During the first off-week, it was found that Cado had been playing without being present in #DBGaming, which, as I'm sure you know, is a direct violation of the Rites of Combat. Normally this would imply a mere warning, but in Vendetta time it also excludes the person in question from placing in that event.

The way the CoJ works from a match violation standpoint is we give a warning first, then take further action after that - which is what we did. However, in Vendettas, the warning typically excludes that person from placing in that particular event. ~ Kir

Very tough competition there, give them a congratulatory man-slap on the back if you happen to catch them on IRC. Let’s go take a look at the results of the second off-week, shall we?

– 2nd off-week results–

1st place: Cado H’Darr – The third place scorer from the first week returns to triumph over all others with 18. Ok so there was a little less participation. It’s still a triumph. Go look it up!
2nd place: Angelo Dante – Keeping his place with 16 Clusters of Fire.
3rd place: Fremoc Pepoi – Taking it with 9 Clusters of Fire.

Clan vs. Clan Gaming Results (Bonus)

Even though none of us are getting novae for it, some members asked me to make a commentary on the standings of individuals on these weeks as well. I’m only too happy to oblige. I ordered them by Clusters of Fire gathered, since that’s the system that Muz wanted to use for the off-weeks. If you guys wanted Win/Loss ratio.. well.. I’m running out of paper with all the little stick counts I’ve been doing for the RoS awards. Here we go:

– 1st week standings (Taldryan vs. Scholae Palatinae) –

1st place: Vardar Fen’Amar Taldrya (33 Clusters of Fire)
2nd place: Andryan “Ace” Queldom (29 Clusters of Fire)
3rd place: Cado H’darr (17 Clusters of Fire)

– 3rd week standings (Scholae Palatinae vs. Plagueis vs. Tarentum) –

1st place: Solus Gar (148 Clusters of Fire)
2nd place: Kaira Rohana (119 Clusters of Fire)
3rd place: Evix Jhredmo (83 Clusters of Fire)

I'd like to thank Shadow for his help in crunching the numbers for this. Couldn't have done it without your Excel magic. Have a thrust on me.

That's all for now, guys. Enjoy the shinies, you put in the effort and you deserve them.

The Newest Palpatine http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/post.php?id=5748
After what seemed like days, the tight winding stairway opened up into an unwelcoming hall. The walls were bare, bearing only the natural marks left in the igneous rock from which it was carved. A dozen or so pillars rose from the ground, hopelessly preventing the miles of earth above it from crushing the Exarch. His hand slipped to his blaster, he could feel the presence of power and evil in this place.

His mission was to investigate this place; The command came from the Emperor himself. Over the years the Obelisk had fought tirelessly for the Empire, he was one of the few whose loyalty was never questioned. On many occasions, Dante remained silent when he’d been passed over for merit and reward. He was growing tired of that feeling, tired of the lack of recognition and tired of the Emperor’s broken promises. This would undoubtedly be his last mission for The Usurper; times had changed.

He stepped forward, admiring the simplicity of the pillars and lamps that lit the cavernous hall. His palms sweated as his fingers wrapped tightly around the pistol’s grip. The hall was warm, excessively so; warmed by the currents of thermal energy, wafting up from the Planet’s core. He felt uneasy; Who wouldn’t?

Another step forward and the plot unraveled. Seven figures, hooded and obscured from identification appeared from behind the giant stone pillars. His trigger finger squeezed, releasing a few stray bolts from the clumsy weapon. At the center of the ghostly formation, the bolts diffused into a puff of white smoke. The weapon was pulled from his hand, crumpled into a mass of twisted metal and electronics. Dante fumbled, he reached for his lightsaber; their power was immense.

A familiar voice spoke to him. “Who is it that dares seek the Secrets of Judecca?”

The Exarch stepped forward, proudly proclaiming himself. “I, Angelo Dante.”

The voice stepped forward, pulling back his hood to reveal his face. The heavy woolen cloak fell to the ground, revealing the full battle attire of Emperor. His lightsaber clicked to life, crackling and hissing in the moist air of the Cavern. Dante knew it would come to this eventually; one can never remain friends with a Sith forever. He knew better than to fight the group outright. Though cunning and guile were never typical attributes of the Obelisk Order, Angelo Dante possessed plenty of both. In calm stride, the Exarch raised his weapon; it too snapped to life.

The friends stared each other down, while the remaining 6 phantom-like bodies encircled the wary Exarch. Thran leapt into action, thrusting his saber towards his loyal friend. In turn they went around the Circle, taking their turns at the Obelisk; Two Masters and an array of Equites. Dante stood tall; he knew they were toying with him. After some time, the pale and slender face of the Emperor returned to the center of the Circle.

He held up his hand, and the others backed off. He spoke, as his lightsaber went dormant.

“Angelo Dante…You have, through years of service, and rite of combat, proven yourself capable and willing to protect our beloved Clan to the greatest of your ability. You have proven yourself not only to me, but to the assembled family.” Spoke the Emperor, as the others peeled back their hoods.

“Congratulations, Brother. Together, we vow to protect the secrets of the Empire and to advance all of her endeavors.” The Bakuran said.

Each Palpatine stepped forward to welcome their new brother; shaking hands and exchanging hugs. Behind the smiles, a silent concern swept through the ranks of the royal family. They would watch their newest Son closely.

“Welcome, then, Son of Palpatine. I proclaim you Angelo Dante-Palpatine, a defender of the Empire!” The Emperor proclaimed, accompanied by beguiled applause. He placed his arm around Dante and smiled.

The Obelisk looked at his old friend and laughed “About time…”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Congratulations to Angelo Dante-Palpatine, who has just earned the Clan Honorific title. Dante, you have, for years, preserved and upheld the integrity of the Clan. Congrats again.

Drinks are on Dante.

With Jeric stepping up, a Magistrate position was opened and reviewing the applications once more, I have decided that Ekeia Iclo would fit in nicely with the Staff. Though young and slightly new (but not really :P) to the world of graphics, I feel her time as Magistrate would give her the chance to learn more about the tricks of the trade.

Please join me in congratulating the both of them on their new positions.

Justicar Competition http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/post.php?id=5744 "The Forms of Vendetta are very specific," argued the Right Hand of Justice, "and they must be obeyed. There is no room for debate in this matter."

The Justicar nodded, then turned as the Left Hand began to speak, "We all know the Forms are archaic. The Clans have fought valiantly and now we are to punish their members?"

The Right Hand vigorously disagreed, "It isn't a matter of punishing their valor - the Forms prevent the Clans from decending into total chaos! If you think I will stand by while-"

"Enough." Said the Justicar, ending the debate. "The Forms may be ancient, but it is not our place to ignore them as we please. As long as they stand, we must enforce them. The tribunal will begin tomorrow, both of you shall be prepared."

Both Hands bowed to the bench, "Yes, Justicar."

The first general directive of the Art of Vendetta is, " The Forms of the Art of Vendetta must be obeyed." While our actual Codex entry includes many practical rules and descriptions, fictionally it could be assumed there is a more involved system governing the actions of Clans in Vendetta via the Forms. Therefore, after each Vendetta the Chamber of Justice would be tasked with sorting through claims of violations.

Your task is to create a work of fiction which details several of the alleged violations from the Rite of Supremacy. Detail the work of the Chamber (both publically and behind the scenes) to get to the truth of these difficult matters.

This competition will run for two weeks, with all submissions being due by Saturday, March 20. Submissions should be emailed to Justicar Kir Katarn.

Golden Clan Plagues Consul Report 28.02.10 http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/post.php?id=5741

CON Report

Introduction

The Throne Room was all but empty. Sitting on the massive wooden chair that dominated the massive chamber, Alaris Jinn di Plagia was a force of anger. In one on one combat, Clan Plagueis proved to be dominant, but in the end, Plagueis was defeated. Alaris was not used to defeat.

He was smart enough to lead the rescue of Callus Bo’Amar. He was cunning enough to destroy the Jusadih Independence Coalition and Crimson Tide. He was powerful enough to defeat several of Omanor Crask’s Jedi. He was resourceful enough to remove Breacen Kaeth from the Plagueian Throne and assume it himself. What could have gone wrong?

He shook the negativity from his mind. Darth Plagueis had come to him personally to teach him the powers of the Spear of Midnight Black and Convection, abilities that had helped him in the Rite of Supremacy. He was the rightful Consul of Clan Plagueis. He was the rightful Dictator of the Jusadih System. He was the rightful Supreme Commander of the Military that defended the Dominion of Clan Plagueis. He had proved this time and again.

“It’s time for a new direction,” the twi’lek said aloud to nobody. “It’s time for a resurgence. There’s nowhere to go but up.”

Brothers and Sisters of Clan Plagueis

...and whoever else happens to read this

We fought well. Despite our finish, I am very proud of every person who stepped up and submitted a fiction, graphic, or poem, everyone who fought in any gaming arena, and especially proud of our amazing ACC team. We achieved a winning record in the ACC of 60%, defeating 2 other Clans in this event, including one Clan twice.

We have a lot of be proud of as a Clan despite the finish, and I’m still proud to say that I’m your Consul.

We have a lot to look forward to. We have a big fictional series of events coming up in about a month’s time. It’s going to involve our new enemy, and enemy the Summit has spent a lot of time creating. I’m extremely excited for the launch of this.

The future is ours, Plagueis. One of the positive things we can garner from a seventh place finish is that we have no place to go, but up.

From the Wiki

Not much to announce from the Wiki side of things that hasn’t already been announced by Vexxtal, but there’s always stuff to be done. We’re in the process of updating our Wiki articles and the like, and so we’re going to need your help. If you want to lend us a hand, there are a bunch of articles that need updating and I figure, why do it myself when there are people looking for promotions! Give us a shout and we’ll get you set up with an article to update!

RoS Awards

“Why don’t I have my Merit Medal/Promotion yet?”

Hold on! The Summit is going to wait until the Seals are awarded so that we can truly award everyone for their participation in a fair manner. They’ll come, so never fear.

Another Moment with Alaris

Most of you are expecting me to make some comment about how Canada is the greatest nation in the world. Most of you would be surprised if I didn’t rub it in that we just won the Gold Medal game on home ice for the first time ever. Most of you would scratch your heads if I didn’t take this moment to gloat.

I shall not disappoint.

After our 5-3 loss to the Americans one week ago, we buckled down and went back to true Canadian hockey: hit, hit, hit, and score. We reminded the Russians whose game they were playing when we trounced them 7-3. Roberto Luongo showed the Slovakians why he’s one of the best goaltenders in the NHL history. Then, yes, of course, Sidney Crosby, who hadn’t scored a point in either of the two games prior, showed up and pushed a softie past Ryan Miller who was arguably the best player in the entire tournament.

The shouts of “Cros-by! Cros-by!” still lingers in my sobriety-lacking mind, and even at this moment I am wearing my Team Canada jersey and a Canadian Flag as a cape.

This all being said, I MUST give props to the American team. Being undefeated going into the Gold Medal game is no small feat. Hell, even we didn’t do in Salt Lake City, losing our first game to Sweden with Curtis Joseph in net. Ryan Miller was outstanding and never let in more than three against Team Canada, something not even the mighty Russians could do, and never more than one against anyone else. He only allowed six goals on 81 shots. That’s damned good.

Congratulations to the United States of America for a well-fought Olympic tournament, but at the end of the day, Canada wins the Gold.

Life and Death Through Darkness,

Clan Naga Sadow Consul Report: Feb '10 http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/post.php?id=5740

Acquiris quodcumque rapis.

By now a large chunk of the merit medals that we`re giving out for excellent participation in the RoS should have been awarded; we`ve got a couple more big ones to do, so I`ll be sending out another email once those are awarded. In the meantime, without further ado, please join me in congratulating the following warriors of Sadow:

Bal Demona, Gavin Pollan, Jade Sadow, Methyas L`eonheart and Macron Sadow were all rewarded for their efforts with Dark Crosses. Well done!

Ylith Atema, Teu Pepoi and Tsainetomo Keibatsu Sadow were rewarded with Anteian Crosses for their hard work. Congratulations!

Dyrra Skye, Kalei Basai, Kano Verda, Raistlin Sadow and Ekeia Iclo were all rewarded with Steel Crosses for their stellar participation and activity. Great job!

Fremoc Pepoi was awarded with a Grand Cross of the Dark Side for his great work as Quaestor and his participation during the Feud. Excellent work!

Taigikori, my superlative Proconsul, was rewarded with a Sapphire Blade for all his hard work both in CNS and in the Shadow Academy. Very well done, Taig!

Like I said earlier on, there`s a couple of other medals still to go through, so keep your eyes on your inboxes! Overall, as I think I mentioned when I revealed the plaque, I`m incredibly happy with the participation we had during this RoS; not only did lots of people get involved, lots of people helped us rise to Third Place. It`s an achievement that you should all be proud of, and one that I know we can build on in the next Vendetta. Onwards and upwards, eh? :D

A bit of progress to mention here, and a couple of things for me to cover. So, without further ado:

*The Website Redesign project has begun to really gather steam; we`ve got a good chunk of the articles written and I`ve begun work on the graphics side of the project, which once I knuckle down to it, shouldn`t take long at all; I can graphic-ise a fairly large amount of articles in a fairly short space of time, so I feel we can get this sorted pretty soon.

*We`re still waiting on the finalised list of ships and the finalised point totals from the RoS in order to sort CNS out with her new fleet, but I`ve been throwing ideas around in some (rather lengthy!) email chains with the summit. To summarise: we`re probably going to be able to afford some very, very sexy ships that you will all get very excited over once that`s sorted out. Stay tuned for updates!

*The legendary Goat has been discussing a few ideas with Tsainetomo and Malisane Sadow for a new, Clan-wide run-on that should give everybody a nice, relaxed opportunity to engage in character development; they`re intending for it to be a more ongoing storyline, and less of a “There is a threat, we must defeat it” run-on, so look out for that soon.

*In about two weeks, House Marka Ragnos will be seeing a House Feud between its two Battleteams, the Night Raptors and the Night Hawks. If you`re not in either of those teams but want to take part, make sure to email Fremoc and let him know, so he can assign you to a team for the duration of the Feud!

I covered a lot of what I was going to talk about here in the introduction, so in this section I`ll just reiterate my point about how great it was to see so many participants in this RoS; a fair few people came out of the woodwork to lend their strength to the Clan, and that means a lot to me. I`m proud of our final placing, and I know that we can improve on it in the next Vendetta; before that, though, we`ve got a lot of cool shit to reveal over the coming months. We`re living in interesting times!

My university timetable is remarkably empty at the moment; until the 6th week of term (week 3 (or 4?) is starting tomorrow) I only have 3 hours of Latin a week. On the one hand, that`s a bit lame since I feel like I`m slacking off a lot; on the other, it`s great because Latin`s getting rather more tricky and I need to keep up with it, and this abundance of free time means that I`ve got plenty of time to start preliminary reading and research for my 15,000 word dissertation. Recently I`ve been looking at the portrayal of the Knights Templar in Islamic/Muslim sources in order to give a more well-rounded picture of how the Templars were seen by writers who weren`t Western, so that`s quite interesting and is yielding some good material.

For those who missed it... here`s the plaque that I made to thank everybody for their participation in the RoS: http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/701/rosdedicationplaque.png

Keep up the great work, everybody!

DA Shikyo Keibatsu Sadow Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/reports.php?report=13508 The Rite of Supremacy is over! Congrats to Revan on a hard earned fight and a special shout out to CNS for staying strong and ending strong for 3rd. Nicely done, guys. I also want to thank the Sons of Sadow for their consideration in awarding me the highest honor the clan has to bestow and to everyone who recommended my promotion to DA. It means a lot and I greatly appreciate it. Now enough about me, it's the graphics that people want! Due to real life issues stealing him away from us, (i.e. being consumed by swarms of hot women) Raven is no longer Praetor to the Herald, which means I need a Second. What does this job entail? -24 hour email response time -no rank requirements/time as a leader is preferred -must have Adobe Photoshop (CS2 or higher preferred) and/or Corel Draw 12 -must provide examples of graphics created -strong work ethic I will be accepting applications until 11:59 PM EST on March 5th. This position is huge in the sense that my Praetor will be filling in and taking the role of semi-Herald for some time. They will be in charge of administrating over the Magistrates, answering HRLD-related questions, and working to complete lightsabers and warbanners while I am gone. Why will I be gone? As of 20100204, (February 4th), I have joined the United States Navy and will be going to boot camp on March 23rd. While I will be gone for 8 weeks, I am taking a long deserved LoA while preparing to defend my country. After the 8 weeks, I will be moving to CA, have a laptop with all my DB amazingness there, and high speed internet. Insert happiness here. I have discussed this with Muz for some time and in the event that I cannot come back and fulfill my duties, I will resign from Herald and ask that my Praetor be elevated to my position. Seeing as "A" School is like military college, I have a feeling I will be able to return and jump back into work with not many issues. However, I am a creature of habit and want everything prepared for the worst case scenario. Now, let's get the sexiness under way. Also, we have 4 other custom saber requests in the queue. For those already in there, please bear with us as we try to get these completed. February alone has been a whirlwind for me; the RoS finishing, the rewards, the Navy. Lately it seems like I haven't been able to stop and catch my breath. While the chaos is overwhelming, I welcome it because it's bringing in all kinds of inspiration for me to continue rocking out the graphical sexiness and get myself into better shape, physically and mentally. When I read over my reccs, something someone said really kind of stood out to me. "To be honest I'm amazed that Shik hasn't gone and killed us all from the work load and stress" While there are times that I get frustrated and annoyed, at the end of the day I look at this as my hobby that I share with tons of great people. I enjoy doing graphics in the sense that it provides me with a challenge: to look back at what I have done in the past and improve it. I'm the type of individual to take a challenge and meet it head on and I try to show that with every project I work on. With the face selector and possessions back on the plate, I'm ready to knock this work out to the best of my abilities. The Navy is going to take a strong portion of time, (drills, study, women), but time management has been something I have greatly improved on. So, I hope everyone is ready for the sexy to come back. Wait, did it actually leave? And it left me with the trash from last night's party? Oh, son of a bi... Report time...and this one is a doozy.

The Rite of Supremacy is over! After a harrowing nearly two-months, the vendetta is just about finalized. The placings for the event went out earlier last week, and the final stuff is being finished up. Seals should be showing up soonish. Congratulations to everyne for fighting so hard and making things difficult on me as I tried to judge things quickly.

Several of the rewards are in the works: the armed forces points went out to the DC, and we've decided to revise the plan before buying new stuff. Also, there's the matter of awards for first and second place units. As promised before,t he First place unit will be able to get an exclusive sabe and robe added to their member's selectors. The second place unit was to recieve either a new exclusive saber or robe.

To that end, Independent House Revan is receiving the 'Revanchist' robes and the 'Message' Lightsaber.

Revan's selector code needs tweaking, since it is the first time that we have had a house-only saber or robe, it didn't want to work right for me. It should be debugged soon. Taldryan will be receiving the 'Tundra' lightsaber.

There are several major promotions coming out today. Each of the people have done quite a lot to help enhance the brotherhood and bring it to the place that it is today. There's a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes, and done by people that are not showboating or gunning for glory themselves. Arion is one such member. With his tireless hours working on code and helping to advance things in the Shadow Academy in addition to his work to make the new Independent House Revan work, he has made an indelible mark on the Brotherhood. It is easy to see where his hand has touched, and it is for that, and for the many fine words his friends have said about him in his reccommendation that we recognize him as an Elder of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.

Subtlety and surety is another mark of those who know that they do not have to cause havoc to get stuff done. As an advisor for the Dark Council for the better part of ten years, Troutrooper has long been considered a mitigating voice and a solid ear on projects in the brotherhood. Yet, while he works dilligently behind the scenes, he also finds the time to bring his a-game during vendetta events. Trout came to us late from the hammer, and lost DJM when he did so, a sacrifice that he felt was needed for his own sanity and for our advantage. I am pleased to say that today, we restore to Trout the very well-earned rank of Dark Jedi Master.

There's not much subtle or quiet about our Herald. Graphics are such an integral part of any web-club, that it is hard to ignore one who does such good works over such a long period of time. Shikyo Has been our Herald for more than two years, a record only bested by Kaine Mandaala. In that time, he has picked up where I left off, continuing to advance our graphical projects, in things like Herald Style Hannukhah where we grossly amplify the choices available to the members, to projects like the headshot selector and possessions, major projects that require intense amount of man hours that have yet to pose their impact on the club. Shikyo has definitely made a name for himself, and the club would not be as good a place without his work. for that work, he is to be elevated from the Equites and take his place among the elders as a Dark Side Adept.

It's been busy here, not only with the crazy hours i have been working IRL and getting the RoS stuff out the door, but also in terms of other projects. Kaek's retirement speech mentioned something about how I don't tell the membership that much about what i am working on until it's go-time. He's absolutely correct in that. But there's a reason for that. I am not trying to cut the members out of the loop so much as I am trying to make sure that no one is disappointed.

For those of us that are new to the club, let me let you in on how big projects, or even little projects, get started.

It all starts when someone has an idea. Ideas are great things. The improvement or overhaul of one aspect of the club or another, or even whole new aspects that are being crafted from whole cloth. Once there's an idea, generally (if the idea-maker is smart) they go to the GM and ask about if it is doable, if it makes sense, if it is really as good of an idea as they are thinking. If it is, they start with a proposal.

Proposals used to be these long-winded things, and some of them still get that way, especially on major projects. Smaller things can sometimes be handled without the thick manual of explanation. At any rate, once the proposal is written, it gets gone-over with a fine tooth comb. This is the first iteration of the plan, and sometimes, the idea is huge and wide-spanning. Anyway, the GM and a couple of advisors will go over the proposal, make tweaks where necessary and 'focus-group' the idea to make sure that it is doing what the purpose is. It is usually at this point in the project's life that it is announced, or alluded to in reports or, in some cases, outright announced to the public.

Then, it goes to the point of getting the work done. Sometimes, this is as simple as editing a few lines in the wiki, sometimes it is a huge affair that will take months or years to get done. Any graphics, websites, and fictional writing that needs to be done to support te project gets done here... and this is also where the project can run into significant shrinkage. Sometimes, the people doing the work bite off more than they can chew, trying to put more into a project that is really needed. Sometimes, doing this huge amount of work is enough to burn people out, since they can't see the end of the project from where they sit. It's a hard thing, as a volunteer club, to expect so much out of people for so little in return. We have been blessed as a club with great talent in getting things done, but it is too easy to take them for granted. Very often here, projects will be scaled back, or even cancelled entirely, because of the amount of work needed.

And then there's the beta test, to make sure that everything works as expected and planned. Finally, there's the release to the brotherhood.

So, there's a lot of steps here, and for a lot of the old-timers, it seems like a typical day at the office. But there is a reason that i put this up here. Very often, leaders will get anxious, wanting to justify their office to the membership by showing them what they have been cooking. That's great. But all too often, the projects are shown off at the point that i talked about, before the work is even remotely close to being done, when the proposal is still at it's inflated state, where it's still more about what we hope to have done rather than something that we know we will accomplish.

I'll be honest with you guys: I don't want to let you down.

In the same vein, I know that my projects are very huge, and that there is boud to be some things trimmed off so that we can actually get things done, as opposed to wait for another ten years in the hopes that someday we may get it done. So I am far less likely to brag about what we are woking on, to let you guys know the exact extent and scope of what we are doing up here... because it's just a plan, it's exciting, and cool. Our minds start thinkng aboutt how cool it is, or even start rethinking the ideas put forth (and then people try to change the project, pushing the project further back away from completion yet)... when the actual release could be far less than what was originally laid out.

An example i just used today was with the robes.

Back when I first got put into the position of Herald, we had robes that were in serious need of an update. So I came up with a plan to replace them. The plan was for 12 or so robe sets, and so many specific variations on color and belt type and boot type that it was ridiculous. The project seemed glorious, thousands of ultra-customizeable robes instead of the no-choice stuff we had at the time.

Had I released that document to the public, people would have gotten really excited, and started making reccommendations for their favorite colors.

But the truth came when i started trying to export the stuff. Drawing so many alternates belts started not making sense, because no one could see the difference on the actual final render. And then, the program i was using to make the robes the way I was was locking up and only allowing me to do one at a time...which caused us to really take another look at what options were important for us to have. So, instead of my 3000 robe options at launch, we ended up with 72.

Now, those were pretty well received. But if I was bragging about 3000 robes the whole time, and gave you guys only 72, how would you feel? Ripped off? Right. Heck, I still put the time in, and got a lot more than what we had, but it still wasn't up to my own initial standards. It's a very similar story with how Rebirth was treated. A lot of rebirth actually did launch, but the thing that got people the most excited and was most hyped never happened, so people felt slighted by it, even though, in grander terms, it was a success as a project.

Now, I'd like to think that everyone here knows about me and can tell my work ethic, if only by my actions and what I have brought to the table over the last four years on the Dark Council. I'd like to say that everyone knows me well enough to know that I am not sitting on my hands here. And I would really like to show off some of the things that we are working on, but I can't give out a lot of details because I don't want you guys to feel like you're not getting what we promise. Kaek was right, but I think he was used to people who just lay everything out there for everyone to see.

Having said that, I will clue you guys in on a few projects that I am working on:

*Restructuring how the Brotherhood Tribunes are treated and handled - Since we removed the Order Leaders in Project Amalgamation under Jac, we replaced their citical work on Gaming and Fiction with tribunes that have had very limited success with what was needed and what the club really deserves. This is a problem that needs addressing, and we are working to resolve the issue. As such, until we sort out what we are going to be doing with this, I will not be taking applications for the Fiction Tribune.

*Character Sheet Revisions - Our character sheet is still very much an ACC character sheet instead of a true DB Character sheet like it should be. That much is obvious when you see that literally everything on the sheet somehow relates to combat, and there are no soft skills at all on there. We're already wrenching on this as well as revamping the basic RPG-setup to take advantage of it.

*Clan Artifacts - This is something that Sarin and I started a couple years back, but got dropped in favor of more pressing concerns. Essentially, we will have a list of Dark Side artifacts and Star Wars style objects that clans will be able to trade their weird out-of-universe D&D style stuff out for. I haven't made much progress on this during the RoS for obvious reasons, but it's not far off.

*Headshot Selector - This joint effort between Shikyo and I has been taking a long time, just because of the sheer amount of actual work needed to get this going off the ground. When you have something that needs to be as intensely personal as a face image, there needs to be a lot of customization. That means a lot of renders, and a lot of work. We're plodding along here, and we will eventually get it done.

*Possessions - This is my personal holy grail. I've talked about it in veiled references and occassionally answered questions about it on IRC. The general gist is that people will earn credits based on what they do in the club and can use them to buy official possessions for their character. From quite-customizable ships and buildings all the way down to blasters and hand tools to put in your belt, this is a program of huge scope. Orv has been working with me, as has Shikyo to get this moving for us.

*New Medals - We have essentially had the same medals as the EH had, years ago. Our organization has evolvd, and because it has, we have found the need for a few new medals to be released to fill in the gaps that the old ones left. Korras and I are working on this, based on project notes that Kaek worked very dilligently on. This is probably something that we will see sooner than anything else on the list.

*The Next Vendetta - Even while working on finishing up he last one, I was working on figuring out what we can learn from how we run vendettas; what works and what does not. There's a few new ideas that we will try out for the next Vendetta event in addition to what we learned about them from the last one. Rest assured that we will not be sending the DC home for the next one. Our tentative timescale is to have the next Vendetta in the fall. This is, of course, subject to change. And no, it will not be a Great Jedi War. It will be 2011 before there is another GJW.

*Societies - There has been a lot of clamoring for the return of the Grand Master's Royal Guard. The issue is that Sarin closed it for good reason. As it sat, the society was stagnation personified. There are a few ideas that we are working toward to bring it back in a different fashion that may make it an effective and more viable society in the Brotherhood. Whether or not we call it the GMRG or something else is another matter.

There are a lot of other things that are being worked on in various stages, but they are either being kept as pleasant surprises for the club upon release, or are just in the proposal stages and haven't been polished up yet. I don't think that I will break my own tradition and give out all of the details, but i will continue to try to give out broad updates about them, for the reasons listed above.

Paladin, one of the Fathers of the Modern Brotherhood, has held the position of Deputy Grand Master for several months now. His real life duties have caught up with him and have been pulling increasingly more and more of his time from us. As such, I am in need of a new Shadow Hand. This is not a simple or easy job. Anyone seriously considering the post will know how to look up the duties on the wikipedia, and knows how to apply for a position already. On top of that, I need someone capable of long-term activity, with a strong work ethic, good head on their shoulders, and the ability to work well with others. This is widely considered to be a training spot for Grand Master, so keep that in mind. I'm not going to kid you, there will be a lot of work involved....but you will be rewarded for it.

I would like to have all the applications in my email by the end of this week.

TL:DR
*RoS Over!
*Projects take time
*Korras is MAA, Kaek Retires
*Arion gets Dark Side Adept
*Troutrooper gets Dark Jedi Master
*Shikyo gets Dark Side Adept
*Apply for Deputy Grand Master

And that's all for this time. If you have any questions, or anything I can help with, pm me on IRC or shoot me an email. Have fun!

DA Seraine "Erinyes" Tnama Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/reports.php?report=13501 A couple of weeks back I got a great report template from one of my predecessors as CM: [Halc|Away] [Insert DC Position Report]: We're currently doing stuff. Well done to everyone in the RoS. Look for new things shortly. kthxbai So, here we go!
 • A couple of days ago, I got an e-mail from a member asking if he could use the battles he had fought in the RoS as qualification battles instead of going through the regular process. It was a great idea, so I'm offering the opprtunity to everyone. If you are currently an ACC Initiate that participated in one of the ACC events in the RoS, you may get in touch with a member of the ACC Staff and provide them a link to one of your ACC battles. That battle will then be used in place of your qualification battle. Please note, this is not an automatic qualification for fighting in the RoS, but it might save you the trouble of having to fight another qual battle when you've already been active in the ACC. If you currently have a training or qualification battle open, send your battle links to the staff member you are fighting. If you don't have a battle open, send them to me.
 • For everyone that has had a battle open since before the RoS or has started a battle since then, you'll notice that your weapon selections from the RoS (if you made any) are sitting at the top of the battle. Ignore them, as they were only intended to be used during the RoS. Please go by the weapons listed your the battle's intro post.
 • As we did back in December, the ACC has once again gone through some staff changes. This is simply because the activity levels in the ACC have been low since the beginning of the school year, averaging two training battles a month across eight staff members. Because of this, several ACC Staff members are moving to a newly-formed Staff Reserve. All Staff Reservists are still considered members of the ACC Staff, but will be helping with staff duties on an as-needed basis rather than being "full-time".
 • After lessons learned from judging battles in the RoS and some projects I had been working on before that event started, there has been another set of revisions to the ACC Handbook. Most of these revisions are under the CS Attributes section. Please read them carefully, as they will be affecting how battles are judged.
 • Congrats to everyone for their hard work in the RoS, with a special mention to Revan for getting top place. Battles left over from the RoS are still being judged. Now that the standings are out, I'm giving Muz a hand clearing the backlog. I'm not entirely sure how soon they'll be finished, but I'm making it a top priority to do so, so hopefully it'll be cleared up in the next few days.
 • Last but not least, congrats to Taig on spawning!
 • With the number of Journeyman participants I've seen in both training battles and the Rite of Supremacy, I've decided to go ahead with a Journeyman Quick Skirmish Ladder. Exactly as the name says, this event will be organized into several rounds of single-elimination Quick Skirmish matches, with CFs and Crescents being awarded normally (pending approval from the MAA, of course). To give people time to get qualified that haven't already, the ladder will start on March 7, two weeks from today.
 • In addition to the Journeyman competition, the ACC will be running its Fifth Championship League this spring, likely in April or May. Details for the format haven't been decided yet, but I'll be releasing more information as I have it.
So in short... we're doing stuff, well done to everyone in the RoS, and look for new things shortly. Stay tuned for the next report, and I'm looking forward to seeing all of you in the ACC!
