Myrkr is a dangerous world for nearly all sentients. Although once settled by the Neti, it has long since evolved from those days. The flora of Myrkr has a high metal-count, making it easy to hide from sensors and the perfect spot to set-up a pirate base or other criminal operation. What also made this world perfect for all manner of seedy individuals is the presence of ysalamiri—creatures with the ability to neutralize the Force.

The ysalamiri are located deep within the forests of Myrkr, where you have also found yourself. They have evolved the ability to make a bubble that excludes the Force to protect themselves from dangerous predators called vornskrs. These dangerous, canine-like predators hunt using the Force, and as such are highly attracted to anything that is Force-sensitive.

The forests of Myrkr are not for the faint-of-heart. It was used by the Yuuzhan Vong to create monstrosities, and continues to be utilized by the seedier elements of the galaxy. The dangers that lurk under the shadowy canopy cannot be underestimated. Not even the Force can protect you from the dangers of the forest.

You stand seemingly alone in a small clearing. Though you can feel the Force at the moment, you know that not far from this clearing, many of Myrkr’s horrors lie – including the Force-negating ysalamiri – can easily be found… You quickly realize this clearing won’t be safe for long as you sense you are not alone.

Obelisk Primarch Shaz'air Taldrya galloped through the forest of Myrkr; his pace ever increasing as the ferocity that followed him was almost upon him. Looking up to the sky Shaz'air noticed a gap in the treeline ahead.

"Finally, some open ground!" thought the Miraluka.

Turning on his heels, Shaz'air started in the direction of the clearing, leaping over a large tree that had fallen, his hand gliding over a moss covered limb. Shaz'air glanced over his shoulder to gauge how much of a gap there was between him and the monster that followed him, but his view of the monster was blinded by the various branches and trees that shrouded it. It almost seemed as if the forest itself was working against the Miraluka.

Only mere meters away from the clearing, Shaz'air could taste the air clearing up, the warm scent of sunlight and grass becoming ever more present with every inch he closed in on his destination. With a bout of force energy, Shaz'air leaped forward, his arms outstretched as he lunged towards the safety of the open ground. Passive through the threshold of the forest into the sun-bathed opening, Shaz'air's senses flared as he noticed a tall figure standing at the border of the clearing.

The tall human fell back into a defensive stance as he watched Shaz'air roll out of a barrel role, his left hand holding a Sapphire Blade in a reverse-grip and turned toward the treeline which he had just leaped through. The Miraluka instantly recognized the man standing in the clearing as Dark Jedi Knight Kenath Zoron - Shaz'air's fellow Ektrosian - but paid no attention to him.

Shaz'air's free hand reached towards his hip and detached his elegant Jedi weapon, the lightsaber blade coming to life as the shadow of a canine-like beast leaped through the trees into the clearing. Kenath swore under his breath and turned his focus from Shaz'air to the monster in front of him.

Shaz'air did not remove his gaze from the Vornskr that stood in the clearing, it's tail circling around it's hind-quarters as if it were playing a game - as if awaiting for one of the two dark Jedi to step forward.

"It's a Vornskr," said Kenath. "They are force sensitive."

"Great. So it will love you, then." Said Shaz'air as he extended a hand toward Kenath and augmented the force to push the Dark Jedi Knight towards the Vornskr. The jaw of the monstrous beast gaped, revealing a large array of sharp, angle teeth at the sight of Kenath's body stumbling forward. Kenath's rage filled the clearing with a hate that resonated the dark side of the force, the haunching on it's back legs, as if prepared to jump it's prey.

As he stumbled toward the vornskr, Zoron reacted immediately. He snatched his lightsaber from his belt and swung it up in front of him. On pure adrenaline, he swept it up and through the vornskr's jaw in a straight line. He heard flesh sizzle and watched as the vornskr's head split in half before the body went completely limp. His fall carried him onto the body and he found himself tangled in the limbs for a moment before cutting his way free.

As he got to his feet, he swore at the other man. "What the hell, Shaz?! Are you insane?"

"Insane? No. I just think you're reaching a little too high for your britches now and you need to be brought back down." Shaz'air rolled out his shoulders and settled back into a fighter's stance.

Zoron's brow furrowed and the muscles in his jaw twitched before he responded. "I reach high for the clan and the house. You'd best remember that's where your loyalties lie as well." He punched his left hand forward and launched an invisible burst of Force energy at the second vornskr that had circled around the clearing and was sneaking up behind Shaz'air. The creature was thrown from its feet and smashed hard into a tree. A sickening crunch came as bones and tendons snapped. A horrible wail rose from the creature's mouth as it writhed in pain.

Shaz'air's head snapped around to the screaming predator before he turned back to Zoron, his face twisted in confusion.

Zoron unslung his rifle and put a pair of shots through the vornskr's torso and the wail slipped into wheezing before the clearing went silent again. He shouldered his rifle again and turned his piercing blue eyes to his clanmate.

"I told you. The clan and house come first. My ship took some serious damage coming down here to this hellhole, but I would certainly like to make it off this planet in mostly one piece. Where is your ship? I'm going to need to hitch a ride with you back to the fleet."

Shaz'air didn't answer. Zoron could almost see the gears working as Shaz'air decided between helping Zoron or fighting him. After a pause, Shaz'air set his shoulders and his eyes refocused. It was obvious he had made up his mind.
