The library was designed to look ancient. Old architecture. Cold, grey brick. High arches and a vaulted, domed ceiling. Wrought-iron sconces hang from the walls to provide light, flickering with real flames. It had all been crafted to hide the fact that the Academy was less than two decades old. The lower level is rectangular, twice as long as it is wide. The middle is filled with chairs and tables, where students study. On either side, large wooden bookshelves hold tomes of knowledge accessible to all members of the Brotherhood. In the center of the floor stands a monument to Jedgar Octavius Paladin, the founder of the first Shadow Academy.

By taking one of the two main staircases on the North and South sides of the library, one can access the second floor. The two sides of the upper level are connected by stone pathways, and the first floor was completely visible below. The upper level held fewer tomes, but contained more advanced knowledge. Often, it's used by students who required silence and introspection for their studies.

Despite the solemn purpose of the library, fights still break out between the students, who always seek to prove themselves against their peers. Punishment awaits those who damage the library, but rarely do instructors step in to stop the fights. Students usually watch in interest, or place bets on the combatants, glad for the show to break up the monotony of their studies

You know you will have to answer for your transgressions, but you can no longer contain the desire to fight. You listen to the whispers as the other students place bets, but you can also sense those who might ally with or against you. The Academy may be a place of neutrality, but it was hard to leave loyalty to your House at the door. You brush your thumb over your weapon, focusing on your opponent as tables clear around you. There is no turning back now…

Since his resignation from the post of Arconan Rollmaster, Andrelious had not returned to the Shadow Academy. As a Warlord of the Sith he felt that it offered little to him in the way of further progress. However, his wife, Kooki, had sent him to Lyspair in an attempt to find a recipe book especially designed for breastfeeding Force users. The male didn’t think such a thing existed, but knew better than to question his wife at times like this.

Having started to look through a selection of tomes, Mimosa-Inahj noticed how relatively few there were dedicated to cookery. He put this down to that the average aspiring Dark Jedi had more interest in lightsabers and death than in how to prepare a perfect salad. Noticing a book about sandwiches, Andrelious placed it aside: he had been frequently scolded by his Alderaanian spouse over the quality of those he had made for her.

“As expected. Nothing.” Andrelious sighed as he reached the end of the cookery section. All he had found, aside from the sandwich book, was one that was ideal for new parents. That, he resolved, would just have to do.

Taking the two tomes he had set aside, the Arconan turned to head towards the exit. As he left, he was passed by a taller alien with a fairly unkempt white beard. Andrelious quickly identified it as an Umbaran.

Never seen one of those with a beard before. Sort of looks a little odd. the Arconan pondered as he walked away.

“Excuse, me, sir? Do you find something odd about my appearance?” the Umbaran questioned, chasing after Andrelious.

“I don’t recall talking to you. I suggest you kindly stay out of my head and go about whatever business you’ve got here!” Mimosa-Inahj snapped, greatly irritated at the stranger’s prying.

“When your thoughts regard my appearance, I think I have every right to know. And you noticed my BEARD first? Don’t the horns make me look odd, too? Speaking of..it’s FAR too bright in here. Lights out!” the alien commanded, smiling as the room was plunged into darkness. Pleased with his work, the Umbaran started to whistle quietly to himself.

“I think I liked it as it was, actually. You’re not going to cut it as a Dark Jedi if you can’t handle light itself! Lights on!” Andrelious replied. The lighting system obeyed the new command, illuminating as quickly as they had extinguished themselves before.

“You’re leaving. Why do you care so much about how I have the lights in here? And It think you’ll find I’m cutting it pretty well – I am a Battlemaster of the Sith. By the looks of those books, you’re just somebody’s galley slave.”

“I’d watch it if I were you, Umbaran. You’re a mere Battlemaster. If you like I could show you just what it is I do to rude little Sith like you,” the Soulfire Captain hissed, reaching for his lightsaber.

“Surely even a powerful whatever-you-are wouldn’t strike down an unarmed man. All I have is this antique pencil.” The Umbaran stated matter of factly.

He’s right. There isn’t much he can do with that archaic writing device.

With a moment or two of consideration, Andrelious threw his lightsaber away, convinced that the alien before him posed absolutely no threat.

“Good. Now, as I said before, lights off!” the Battlemaster declared, smirking.
