A thousand high pitched sounds filled Echo's ears as he came to. Slowly his sight returned, blurry flecks of colour splashing over a white background. Buzzing and muddy vision followed, as his ears adjusted to the ambient, his innate healing ability kicking in to alleviate the effects. Slowly he turned his head, observing his immediate surroundings. His visor was still intact, displaying information on vital statistics and identifying nearby objects. He thanked the Force it was still on his head when he landed, otherwise he would have been a very dead Jedi.
The garbage container he landed on was crushed under his weight and, he supposed, the impact of his fall. He tried to recall what had happened, remembered himself and Master Torun searching through one of the newest archaeological sites on Sanulu, where the archaeologists found some ancient machinery. Suffice to say something went terribly wrong, and there was an explosion when one of the machines overloaded a portable generator. After that - nothing. Nothing but blackness. And now this.
There was little time to ponder his whereabouts. An immediate sense of danger poked at his subconscious mind like a needle to his skin. He dodged the first clumsy blaster shot with relative ease, his body now healed from the mild injuries he sustained earlier. He ducked behind the dumpster, which provided sufficient cover from immediate danger, and peeked over it to identify the threat. His attacker seemed to be wearing a white armour with Republic insignia on it. Echo knew all the ranks in the New Republic by heart, and this one didn't ring any bells.
~Imperial? No...what then,~ he thought to himself as he heard several more footsteps accompanying the first soldier.
"Weapons down, now, and step into the open," one of them ordered, pointing the barrel of his blaster rifle at Echo's position.
The giant heard shuffling and the miniscule beep of a comm unit. More were coming, he gathered. Only then did he remember he had several of his weapons on him, including the intimidating rotary blaster strapped to his right forearm. He considered using it - he would certainly manage to take out the soldier, and any others joining him, in moments - but he thought better of it. They were already at an advantage, and he was prone with little space to manoeuvre.
"All right," Echo said calmly before pushing the release on the rotary blaster. The massive gun dropped from his forearm with a resounding thud, and he kicked it into the middle of the alley. The Guardian stepped out of his cover revealing his immense size somewhat startling the soldiers. With a thought his visor retracted, revealing his pale, smooth features.
"Don't shoot," he said immediately as the soldiers levelled their weapons "I'm a friend,"
a short exchange followed before they tightened their grips on their weapons.
"Ain't no one around but Jedi, Republic army and Sith, and you ain't army. Certainly not Jedi. Open fire," one of the three soldiers ordered as itchy fingers pulled on their triggers, releasing a torrent of blue fire at the Guardian. He expected as much.
Time slowed. It was a tingly sensation, releasing the Force as he did. It was at once thrilling and terrifying to see how slowly his adversaries moved in comparison, while he was a veritable blur. He reached the first soldier, dodging his well-aimed shot. Several punches to the chest and neck and he was down. The second followed. A kick to the knee shattered his knee cap, a fist to the nose incapacitated him even before he struck the ground. The third was the trickiest to get. He had already aimed his blaster at Echo, anticipating where the giant would be. A slight mental nudge to the muzzle of his weapon was all it took for him to miss. By the time he regained his composure, Echo was already on him. A powerful kick to the chest, and the impact against the duracrete wall made short work of him. By that moment everything had sped up again, returning back to normal.
Echo exhaled, as he always did after such a display. Getting used to his powers was something he was still dealing with.
~When in doubt, or under stress, expand your mind. Feed on the Living Force and let it sooth your senses,~ he heard Master Torun say in his ever-calm voice.
He centred himself, looked around, and regained focus. By now he realized he was on the vast city-planet of Coruscant, though how he arrived there he didn't know. The city was burning, and a battle seemed to be raging both on the surface and in orbit. All of this was confusing and illogical - something Echo disliked. He only knew that a familiar feeling poked at his sixth sense so he indulged it. His consciousness spread like a wave through the buildings around him, searching for a hint. It took no less than a breath to find what he was looking for. A familiar, friendly presence not far from his position - Master Torun, fighting for his life. He picked up his rotary blaster and rushed ahead, hoping beyond hope that he would arrive in time.
