Mining Facility

Lava is mined like a precious natural resource on this volatile and volcanic world. Opposing gravitational forces of the twin gas giants closest to Mustafar tear apart the planet’s surface to reveal the mineral-rich lava flows underneath. Once serving as the capital world for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, remnants of their past influence still linger. Massive mining facilities originally constructed by the Techno Union are still maintained by the native Mustafarians, an egocentric people who would like nothing more than to squeeze minerals for the purposes of trade and commerce from their volcanic planet.

Other than in the pursuit of business interests, few arrive on Mustafar save for those needing to incinerate evidence in its vast expanses of magma. What little curiosity is given to the volcanic planet is thwarted by a natural scanning interference caused by intense geological activity. Pirates, smugglers, criminals and scum all value this world’s ability to dump bodies, tracked cargo shipments and other unwanted articles - the singular reason for the Black Sun’s interest in the Outer Rim world.

A mechanical construct of machinery meant to extract valuable minerals from the magma trapped within its reservoir, the mining facility itself is worked all hours of the planet’s rotation by the native Mustafarians, which is bathed in an endless night, illuminated only by the molten rock. Droids, machines and conveyor belts create the workings of an efficient system to extract the minerals and have it prepared for refinement and transportation. Lacking a suitable surface, metal walkways are shielded against the heat to allow workers passage throughout the facilities. Even with the worst of the heat being shielded against, Mustafar’s temperature remains less than comfortable to most species lacking exoskeletons.

Xan walked down a corridor accompanied by a Duro manager on Mustafar.

"So if I understand you want medical droids for the K.U.D.F.," the Duro stated. "Does 5,000 credits a unit sound good?"

"Sounds fair," the Dashade replied.

The two moved through the inner corridors, eventually exiting the building, nearing the landing pad. Xan stopped when he saw a second ship, an Arconan ship, on the pad. Xan tensed. He did not see anyone, and he could not sense anyone either.

"Run," he told the Duro.

The Duro did not need any further prodding, and took off toward the inside of the building. Xan pulled out his saber, and took a step forward. Eat the Arconan. Eat them all, his hunger said. At the moment Xan was able to ignore it.

Xan moved towards the ship with long strides, meaning to approach and talk. Xan saw the attack coming for an instant and threw himself to the ground. There was a bang, and Xan was glad he followed his instincts. In that moment he caught a glimpse of the attacker. It was almost definitely human. Xan also caught sight of a trip wire in front of his face.

That was close, he thought. His hand went for his lightsaber, and pulled himself up, igniting the weapon. Xan heard another bang, and felt an explosive pain in his left shoulder. Xan fell to the ground, rolling, and laying flat on his back, his legs extended so the was below the human. He saw the human point a slugthrower at his face and smiled.

Hooking his heel against the humans, the medic pulled on him, and the Commander fell. Xan called on the Force to begin healing the bullet wound. Xan then shoved off the ground, tackling Nikola as he got up. Xan wrestled with the Arconan, who was unused to such combat.

"Get off me you brute!" the Commander said, his speed unsuited for the wrestling match his stronger foe had him in. "Fight me like a man!"

Nikola struggled against Xan, unable to pull himself from his foe's grasp. His hand found his slugthrower, and while he was unable to aim it at his foe, he fired anyway, hoping his foe was not used to the noise. The Commander was right, and he felt his foes grip come away. Nikola pulled away, and ran over the tripwire, realizing that in terms of unarmed combat, his stronger unusual opponent had the advantage.

Xan pulled himself up, and ran after the Commander, and tripped over the tripwire he forgot was there. Careful, Xan thought. You might have just given him time to set up another trap. This planet is probably his friend in terms of traps. He could make them as non lethal as he wanted, and they could be lethal.

Xan pulled himself up, and inspect his shoulder, relieved to see that it was healing well, the bullet having gone clean through. Even so he was in pain, the healing making draining his energy, and it being increased naturally causing some pain. I don't want to give him any advantage. the medic thought as he pushed past the pain. Every injury i sustain is an advantage for him.
