Felucia Rancor Graveyard

Hidden in Felucia’s jungle lies a two hundred meter expanse marking the ancient burial site of this world’s deadliest creatures and the location of innumerable remnants of hundreds, if not thousands of rancors. A circular enclosure of sun-bleached bones are arranged in the center of the cemetery—no doubt the former dwelling of a powerful practitioner of the Force. Cobwebs cling to the fallen beasts, a testament to the primordial age of some of the creatures.

Somewhat obscured by surrounding cliffs and the luminescent jungle, the dusted bones and carcasses are cast in a faint shadow, leaving just enough light to see by. The atmosphere is thick and stifling, with a strong overtone of dust and bone suspended in the still air. The taint of the Dark Side's influence has polluted the landmark over time, giving form to a dreadful aura that has scared off scavengers determined to sell off a rancor tusk or two. Unlike most of Felucia, the area is nearly devoid of life aside from ravenous predators dwelling within the hollowed-out husks of dead rancors.

“And I am telling you, there is nothing here but Felucian rats and coyotes. Not a single fwecing Jedi!” Lexiconus’ snarling tone was directed into a holocom, as he paced further into the graveyard. The cerulean image of another Quarren flickered from his palm device, his only source of directions. Devoid of life and swirling in an undisturbed mist, the bones of the rancor disappointed Lexic. But he was on a mission of great importance for the Inquisitorius, and his Emperor.

“Well I have nothing more to say, you should have found a Jedi. I want no part in this outcome, goodbye!” The image dissipated and in his fury, Lexic threw the device at a rancor skull. Shrapnel and sparks flew everywhere, as beetles scurried for their lives. He was sure a Peacekeeper nicknamed Tisto was out here. The source was strongly reliable, or so he thought. A growing hum of engines in the distance caught Lexiconus’ attention, as he swiveled on his heels to check. A growing crescendo of an engine, but its location unknown, sparked a thought in the Quarren’s mind.

Blast! I’m early!

Scanning the scene for an adequate place to hide, Lexiconus saw shards and pillars of rancor ribs scattered around the large amphitheater, with rancor ribs placed precisely to look at the centre. The circular appearance of the bones and cliffs provided a sonic disc, which amplified the engines echo loudly. Lexiconus jogged towards a half-complete skull, already out of breath, diving and tumbling under the skull cap. Peering through an empty eye socket, the Quaestor witnessed a swoop bike drift in and come to a halt. A mushroom of bonemeal dust plumed around the humanoid, who leapt from his speeder and slowly approached the rancor skull.

“Come out now, Sith scum! Repent for your manipulative and enslaving ways, and I’ll promise you a swift and slighly painless death!” Tisto roared out, as he ignited a ruby blade. Placing his dominant foot behind himself and raising his lightsaber, the Jedi prepared himself.

How did he know! Let’s see if he likes this…

Lifting to his feet, Lexiconus extended his palms out and placed them on the skull. The skull telekinetically shot forwards, tumbling and blasting through the air to the Jedi. Tisto managed a simple cartwheel dodge and readied himself again.

“Try again, squid-face!” The Peacekeeper laughed out. The Quaestor bared his teeth and snarled at the insult. His roar echoed across the surrounding cliffs, as Lexiconus stood and ran forward, throwing more large bony fragments at Tisto. The Jedi leapt and ducked through the catapulted objects, near missing the fragments by a strand of hair. Tisto evaded and rushed forward, storming into close quarters. He gave the Quarren and swift round kick across the head, as he spun gracefully into the air. Lexiconus let out a groan as blood spat from his mouth, sliding onto the ground.

I can’t, he’s too fast. Unless…

The Battlemaster looked around and saw an entire rancor bottom jaw. He crawled to his feet while Tisto slowly advanced forward, making a standard cross-guard position. Lexiconus pushed his arm out, then closed a fist and shakily snagged his arm back. The jawbone snagged from its original skull and closed the distance. Shivers spread down Tisto’s back as he sensed the soaring obstacle, swiftly turned to face the projectile head on.

Now!

The Quarren struggled to his feet and took out his lightsaber, then he walked forward to flank the Jedi.
