Derek stood on one of the landing platforms around the large central structure. It was a dark colored bowl shape that glistened when the lightning struck across the clouded sky. He had learned of the planet from his grandfather who had fought alongside the legendary Clones. Now he was here to see it himself. After the chaos that had ensued earlier within Clan Scholae, Derek thought it might be appropriate to have a source of soldiers if the need arose. This idea however, he wasn't willing to share with anyone until he was sure it would feasible. The Empire had occupied the stormy planet after the Clone Wars, but now some of their facilities lay abandoned.
Derek's plan was to see if he could acquire any equipment and information regarding the cloning process, and if it would be possible to use them for his House's advantage. Only months earlier Darth Fallax had influenced his former Master, Xen'Mordin Palpatine, to pit both houses of Clan Scholae Palatinae against each other. This conflict finally ended when this was revealed and [Falax/Xen?] had died. Derek had been away for a while before this but was shocked at the news once he returned. Distrust between the houses and the clan had deepened to a point where the house enacted steps to ensure their own security in fear of something like this happening again,
Derek studied the building in front of him. He was giddy in a way. Growing up on Chandrila with his grandfather Had raised him to revere the Clone Troopers and their legacy. To be where they once were was quite exciting to the 13 year old Knight. It was quite stirring in a way because he was wearing a custom set of armor made specifically for his smaller frame that was identical to the Phase II armor Clones wore in the later stages of the war.
“So Derek, whats going on with you?” A voice said from behind him. “Quite a ways from Chandrila.”
Derek turned to see a women with a dark cloak flapping in the fierce wind, a hood covering her brown hair. He could make out the unmistakable orange eyes of Shadow Nighthunter, The leader of Tacitus Athanasius and essentially his boss.
“Shadow!” Derek exclaimed over the relentless rain. “You scared me there! What are you doing out here?” Derek asked cautiously. When he had left, He had informed her that he needed to take care of some issues involving his parents property on Chandrila, and that he wouldn't be back for about a month. His true mission was a secret because he didn't want his idea to protect his house and his battle team to be known until he was sure that it could work, lest he be ridiculed for such a foolish idea. Though he was a Knight, He was still only thirteen and found many looked down upon him due to this.
“I think you have more to answer to than I.” She said coldly. “Like why are you here when you said you'd be on Chandrila? And why you have been researching so much about cloning and cloning techniques?”
Derek paused, his helmet covering his surprised face. The Sith just stared at the emotionless face mask of his helmet that dripped with the torrential rain. Derek wasn't sure how she knew what he had been researching and how she even knew he was coming here, but he wasn't worried, she’ll probably understand once he told her What was going on.
“Sorry about that, you see it’s just I thought it would be interesting to see the benefits of having our own Clone Army, in case something like what happened with Fallax happens again.” Derek said truthfully. “I didn't want to tell you because...” Derek Couldn't finish, Shadow had pulled off her hood and reached under her cloak for two dark shaded lightsabers.
“You really can't think that I would believe what you say.” she said as she twirled her lightsaber in her hand. “Derek you are the apprentice of Xen'Mordin Palpatine who essentially caused the death of so many of us. I know you are close to him. When it all happened, you weren't there. Why? How come you happened to show up after all surprised by what had happened?” She stated. Derek couldn't believe what he was hearing.
“Is she accusing me of being more loyal to Xen than the House? Is she calling him a traitor?” He thought, very distressed at the tone of her voice.
“Then you lie to all of us and head to Kamino after researching information about cloning.” Shadow continued, still twirling the grey and black handle of one of her lightsabers. “All these sign are troubling.”
“What are you trying to say?” Derek asked nervously. “That I am a traitor? Xen was my master, yes, but that proves nothing. My loyalties lie first with the house and the battleteam.” Derek said exasperated. “I have no love for Fallax. I'm only trying to to do what’s best for the security of the House. Plus Xen is dead! You’re not making sense.”
Smirking slightly she said “Derek, I overheard you when you find out what had happened. You blamed us for his death. You blamed us.” The Battlemaster ignited the sith red and white lightsaber. “Whether or not you are actively working against the House, your feelings are dangerous. And that is a risk we cannot take.
Derek could feel the sense of dread coming over him, but it was quickly gone as the she ran toward him with her sabers pulled back. Derek flew up as his jetpack came alive with a slight sputter. He pulled out his DC-17 out of his holster and began spraying down at her. She stopped to block the blaster fire before raising her arms up. Derek's flew back and slammed against one of the pillars rising up from the landing platform. He dropped back down to the slick floor and slowly picked himself up.
He looked up just in time to see her charging at him. He brought up one of his blasters and began firing a rapid stream of shots. He rolled to his left and holstered his pistols just as Shadow swung where he just was. He pulled out his saber, the white blade glowing against his dark armor.
“SHADOW! STOP!” Derek screamed as he raised his saber to block her sabers. He staggered back at the force of her strike. He flew back again, rising into the air while blasting at the skilled Sith once again. Bored by this however, lightning flew from the tips of her fingers and managed to strike him. He began to feel dazed as he descended back down, slamming against the platform with a dull thud.
