At six foot three inches, the mirialan is not the tallest Taldrya, but with his hulking stature, Rian's certainly amongst the physically most imposing of them, built solidly with toned muscle that leaves little to the imagination of the power that lies under a pale golden-tannish, almost olive tan.
If quiet strength was personified, it is probably in the form of Rian. While of a heavy build, he has kept an inner handsomeness and kind expression that emanates through his body language and eyes which shine in a striking amethyst hue. Though he keeps his hair trimmed neatly at all times except a slightly longer braided mop of sand-colored hair atop his head and small a man bun at the back of his head that adds some personality to his appearance.
As with most other members of the Mirialan species, Rian's face and body are dotted with symmetrical tattoos of dark color that mark significant experiences in his life. Running from left to right underneath his eyes one can see a band of diamond-shaped dots framed by a line on each side running from the outside to the inside completed by a diamond framed by small arrows above and beneath on the back of his nose. Starting under his lips a cluster of triangles and arrow-shaped tattoos go down onto his throat. Further, the entire area of his chest around his neck is covered in black bands of triangles and arrows with the only exception of the symmetrical tattoos being a stylized flame on his back above the neck.
Rian has a strong, cheerful attitude and hides whatever worries him by acting optimistic After all if everyone is too busy whining and groaning about the negatives, how will anyone ever reach for the positive? True, Rian Aslar's constant happy-go-lucky attitude can rub people the wrong way, especially pessimists or those just level-headed enough to realize when things truly are going downhill, but exactly this constant positive outlook can serve to sometimes win over others when it feels like the world just wants to run havoc upon them.
Being referred to as "too stubborn to die", Rian Aslar is defined by his relentless optimistic nature and heroic demeanor but overall carries a soft, and caring spot. If a member of Taldryan is in danger, he would go extraordinary lengths to protect his brethren, with little regard for his own safety without hesitation. This attitude, however, often clouds his ability to see things from an arbitrary or objective point of view and he can come off as extremely narrow-minded.
Rian is impulsive and fearless, not afraid to push his limits even against insurmountable odds and rarely retreats. However the events since his ascendency as Consul of Taldryan have gradually stripped him of parts of his energetic personality that earned him the nickname "Ri-guy" from his closest friend, and former Master Shaz'air Taldrya. The boldness, the inescapable tendency to impetuosity: All of that is still there, but it is now lessened by a sense of maturity.
Rian Aslar is moral and dedicated and takes pride in his membership in Taldryan. He is honor-bound to protect his brethren, and nothing can stand between him and his honor and pride. He views the lightsaber given to him by his Master, Shaz'air Taldrya during his Knighting ceremony as a symbol of his honor, and therefore, to damage it would represent damage to his honor, and he refrains from using it as much as possible.
Rian is driven by a fierce dedication to succeed in combat; no matter the mission, no matter the cost. Utterly devoted, he represents a philosophy where the only way to evolve and grew stronger is to spend his life building himself in the image of warfare; utilizing dogmatic training - often too arduous and demanding, both mental and physically - for most of those around him. Rian's philosophy formed a man, whose strength of mind is as impressive as that of his body - for his rank and position require far more than power found in muscle alone.
Leverage, position, advantage – A natural fencer, Rian Taldrya prefers to subdue his opponents quickly through the use of agility and evasion. Even during the early stages of his training under the tutelage of the Taldryan Elders, he showed an innate understanding to apply the lessons learned in duels and chain them for his own advantage. For this reason, Rian chose to specialize in a Lightsaber forms that favor cunning over brute force.
However with his combat style centered around dueling, Rian is forced to keep his opponents at melee range to be able to fully apply his strengths and has difficulties when dealing with opponents relying on long range combat.
