Mateus is a heavyset man, of average height but stocky, with many little marks and calluses from years of hard labour and warfare that he refuses to heal with bacta. Sun-kissed skin, a square jaw and damaged scar tissue down the right side of his face leave little to the imagination. He has buzz-cut black hair, bright blue eyes, and over two dozen tattoos across his body, ranging from little phrases in Mandalorian to a kell dragon coiled around a Mandalorian helmet artfully splayed across his back.
Like many Mandalorians in the current era, Mateus is a bounty hunter. He'll take on a job, see it through to completion for its credits, and then leave the mess behind without any attachment to the target or his client. As part of this, he has no true loyalty to the Brotherhood in any way aside for its coffers. With a reasonable amount of work available to him and plenty of targets for him to seek, his only real reason for sticking around is to gain his fame and glory. While he serves in various parts of the Brotherhood in terms of its Clans, he has a contact directing him to the best work available. No Consul can bind him. No Dark Councillor owns him. He is a free man, no matter what anyone tries to do or say.
Mateus, to his absolute core, is Mandalorian at heart. He is a firm believer in the six tenets of the Mandalorian code, a trueborn warrior and a man of unshakeable belief in his upbringing. To question Mateus' heritage is to question everything that he is and is the fastest way to make yourself an enemy. He is here to enhance his prowess with powers and abilities to make him better able to defend his Clan back home and also to make him a better warrior - such being the case, forcing him to choose between something that betrays the Mandalorian code and loyalty to anything of the Brotherhood will see the Brotherhood lose every single time, from Battleteam leaders to Grand Masters.
Mateus has no time in his life for lying or deception, for liars or for sugarcoating his words. You will often hear harsh but true words from his mouth, but you can rely on him to give it to you as straight as he can possibly spin it. Lying will immediately cast a black mark upon you, but speaking truth in a difficult situation is truly the mark of the great in his eyes. Despite this, Mateus does his best to be as stoic as possible, keeping in his opinions - unless you tarnish his name and honour, at which point you may find yourself on the receiving end of a vicious verbal and physical tirade.
Mateus gives two hundred percent to everything he does, no matter what it is. This leads him down two paths simultaneously: first, it makes him an absolute workaholic to what he is taken with at any given time, pursuing it with utter dedication and tenacity even if it kills him. Secondly, it means that once that he finds something - and often he will find something new to give himself to - he will drop the old thing to give all of his energy to this new interest. This means that, with few exceptions, he has finished with and left behind so many things... or people... in his past.
Mandalorians are bred for war. They live in their armour, they live for the thrill of battle and they utterly live for the glory that comes with it. When Mateus fights, he is truly alive. He does not live for the need to fight but for the visceral thrill that accompanies it. It is this moment that he loses himself in, giving himself to the fight before him - finish the fight, one way or another, only one person left alive at its end. Anything else around him is immaterial, utterly unimportant. Steely nerves will see him through injury and he may need to capture his quarry alive, but there is no final outcome for himself other than death or victory. Anything less would be the ultimate dishonour.
Mateus is one to seek the glory of battle from the very forefront, surging with power as the eye of the storm. His best abilities enable him to harm as many foes as he can using either Lightning or scythe them down with lightsaber blows bolstered by Rage or Amplification. However, this gives way to a rather severe deficiency in staying power - his body may be able to hold up for some time, but his Force reserves certainly cannot, leaving him drained extremely quickly if he pushes to excess, which is a frequent flaw when the bloodlust flows.
