Honsou Kessen is devoutly loyal to his House or Clan and will follow orders unquestionably. He would sacrifice his own life to protect his House or Clan from harm. This attitude, however, often clouds his ability to see things from an arbitrary or objective point of view and he can come off as extremely narrow-minded.

Honsou Kessen can be very protective, and when any of his friends are being bullied or threatened, he will step in to defend them. This can gets Honsou Kessen in trouble when he refuses to back down during these exchanges, and sometimes has trouble discerning between friendly teasing and intentional insults. However, because of this fierce loyalty, his friends know that no matter what, Honsou Kessen will be there for them.

Honsou Kessen has a military background, and draws upon his experience to tackle the obstacles in his life. This makes him decisive, efficient, and fearless; provides him with a strong sense of duty and strength; which tends to influence his ability to fight and lead. However, a rigid mind is less compassionate towards individuals and less imaginative, and Honsou Kessen sometimes risks appearing callous, relatable, or incapable of compromising.

While generally laid back and more than happy to offer a quip of sarcasm, Honsou Kessen's entire demeanor changes once combat begins. He becomes focused and quiet, with his smile replaced with a look of grim determination.

Through a mixture of cocksure courage and arrogant swagger, Honsou Kessen will not back down from a challenge when called out, even if the wiser path is to walk away or let it go. Honsou Kessen's personality does tend to rub a lot of people the wrong way, which generally puts him into situations that escalate quickly to violence. While he may not be the one to always start a fight, he will always see it through to it’s conclusion. Some have tried to play a challenge off as idle banter, but when Honsou Kessen initiates or accepts a challenge, he does not hold back.

Even the most gifted of weapon masters understands the importance of physical fitness and disciplining the body with through martial arts training. Honsou Kessen has trained vigorously in unarmed combat by fusing Teräs Käsi and Echani with other unconventional forms. While this martial focus helps bolster his prowess in close-quarters combat, Honsou Kessen is still limited in scope when facing down a less direct or ranged threat.
