Caden is quite short for his age, and he has a slim and underfed muscle tone, with pale skin that has rarely seen the sun. He is distinctly handsome, with a finely chiseled face and tidy platinum blond hair in a short pixie cut. Most notable however are his eyes, which are striking and piercing with deep violet irises.
Caden feels the most comfortable when he is surrounded by his droids, or slicing a wall of code. They are controlled by equations, by structure, by data... and nothing is better than data. You can understand it, you can plan it, you can control it.
All in all, they’re just bytes in the wall, but by changing one byte of data somewhere Caden knows he can solve any problem, plan for any possibility and pull any string.
Caden Itharus is very skilled as a mechanic and a slicer, and enjoys working and interacting with machines and computers. He believes he can repair, modify or slice anything with circuits, gears or code. He has a knack for pulling things apart and putting them together again, making useful devices out of junk, and writing effective scripts and programs.
This trait will occasionally backfire on him, as he will often become frustrated when unsuccessful. Caden also has a bad habit of tinkering with things that aren't broken, and often an upgrade or modification will have unintended consequences ranging from the comedic to the down-right dangerous.
Caden never does anything without a carefully calculated plan. When faced with any kind of problem, his instincts tell him to study the problem and break it down into an algorithm, a set of rules and processes to be followed when executing his answer. He will usually pick apart his problems, and then figure out some way to work around them only after he is armed with these calculations.
This makes him very gifted at anticipating problems, predicting outcomes and thinking around the box, but he wastes a lot of time overthinking his solutions and anticipating variables that don’t always happen.
Caden was born different. He is a genius who has a passion for puzzles and learning, and can access highly detailed memories through strange hand gestures on imaginary computers that only he can see. He doesn’t really understand people, and tends to avoid eye contact as much as possible. He doesn’t talk much, but he writes a lot.
He connects well with droids, but is secretive and withdrawn with people. He understands complex programming and equations, but misses the simple and straightforward. He becomes very focused on one task at a time, and oblivious to all else. He overthinks and overplans, and struggles with the unexpected.
He isn’t missing anything though - everything he needs was included, because just like his droids, we are who we were built to be.
Despite his genius level intellect Caden is not very observant, and tends to only notice things when he is focused on them. Combined with his dependence on planning, calculating and predicting everything around him, he often believes he is quite safe - even when he’s not. After all, it’s not a risk, it’s math.
This lack of constant awareness will often put him in danger, as he has significant trouble adapting to the unexpected. He is easily caught off-guard by anything he did not anticipate correctly, and needs others to watch out for him.
Caden employs robotics and automation in almost everything he does, from work to play to combat. Unlike people, he genuinely cares about his droids as they always want to come out and play with him. He crafts all kinds of random little droids to do random little tasks, from heart to heart conversations to step by step parts of larger, more complex objectives.
Caden's droids are his best friends, and he is unusually attached to them. In return, they are the frontline of his army when he needs protection. If they are torn apart bit by bit he knows he can always put them back together again, but he will suffer an emotional blow when harm inevitably befalls them, or when they outlive their purpose.
