Through a combination of preparing, studying, and analyzing, Artorias creates detailed battle plans and tries to think two steps ahead of the enemy. At times, however, this can lead to Artorias creating complicated schemes that can baffle less intelligent subordinates.

Artorias's life is filled with training and learning for all sorts of situations, from the mind-numbingly normal to the utterly bizarre. As such, Artorias has developed into a rather resourceful individual. This has made Artorias a mix of academic and scholar, always with something to offer to any discussion. However, knowledge and training does not always translate well to the tense environment of the battlefield, and no amount of textbooks can prepare one for reality...

Artorias has a tendency to get addicted to things, even if those things aren't addictive.

Artorias prefers to push the rules to the absolute limit. While he is unlikely to actually break rules or disobey orders, he toes the line between what is allowed and what isn't at every opportunity.

Artorias is utterly devoted to success in combat, no matter the mission, no matter the cost. He has spent his life building himself in the image of war, utilizing a dogmatic regimen that has lead him to a single-minded obsession with military success and requires intense physical and mental training. This training, however, has come at the cost of anything resembling empathy or concern for others - even his superiors and subordinates.

Born with an intractable will and limitless courage, Artorias will stand in the face of insurmountable odds and never retreat. Despite the fact that such acts of heedless bravery are inspiring and will sometimes result in victories worthy of song, just as often they result in his allies getting wounded or killed.
