With sharp, slanted brown eyes that seem too old for his face and a diminished frame, Uji has the look of a soldier forgotten by war. Though his body has weakened from injury, the former Obelisk still carries himself with a straight-backed confidence. The deepening lines on his face are occasionally interrupted by a quick smirk, and he is often seen arching a dark brow in exasperation.
Uji's skin is a pale, warm tan, marked by countless scars, the most prominent being two long, thin lines that stretch across his sharp, straight nose—from just below his left eye to the opposite side of his face. His strong jaw and pronounced cheekbones are framed by a neatly kept, full goatee, with occasional loose strands of dark black hair slipping free from the knot he keeps it in. Though his posture remains firm, a subtle slant in his step betrays his reliance on the cane he leans upon.
Uji is not one to tolerate mediocrity or inaction. He appreciates efficacy above all else and disdains anything less. This often leads him to see most of his colleagues as incompetent or foolish, worth only as much as their use in his plots and plans. These views are compounded by his own bone-deep pride and stubbornness, which often causes him to see only himself as able to achieve anything of worth. This leads him to strive for power and command, seeking to bring order to himself, others, and the world as he sees fit. For all his good intentions, his ambitions can make him seem callous, cruel, and even arrogant as he goads, tricks, and baits those around him into doing what he wants them to do.
Uji knows he is not a good man. Years of making hard choices and manipulating circumstances to achieve his goals have earned him a reputation for ruthlessness. Yet, his actions are driven by a purpose—he seeks to create a world where someone like him would no longer be needed. He carries this burden willingly, making whatever sacrifices are necessary to see it through. Whether it means making difficult alliances, deceiving those he trusts, or making choices others would shy away from, Uji is prepared to do what must be done. He will see it through, no matter the cost.
Uji has a naturally sharp wit and a penchant for sarcasm, always ready to turn a phrase or twist someone’s words against them. Among friends, this manifests as playful banter, and few things delight him more than a battle of wits with someone he considers an intellectual equal. However, when dealing with those he holds in lesser regard, his humor can come across as biting or dismissive, often making social situations that require diplomacy more challenging.
Patience and intelligence are two of Uji's few virtues. He is a careful planner by nature, and is perfectly comfortable spending years weaving threads just how he wants them. This can make him appear reckless when his well-thought out plans lead to much intended chaos. This slow, cunning approach makes him a good tactician, impressive problem-solver, and careful manipulator. However it can also prevent him from recognizing when a different approach might be better, or from acting on the spur of the moment when it's needed.
Uji knows his best days are behind him, his ailments and chosen lifestyle ensuring he has little intention of growing old. Despite this, he is driven by a responsibility to pass on his knowledge to the next generation of the Brotherhood. Whether in structured training or on the battlefield, he takes every opportunity to sharpen those under his command. Even in combat, if he sees potential in an opponent, he will offer guidance—whether they seek it or not. This relentless insistence on instruction, however, can lead to overextending himself and becoming the victim.
Uji understands that individuals are the most effective weapons. Through Battle Meditation and his tactical insight, he sharpens others into stronger, more capable versions of themselves—turning a lowly street urchin into a seasoned warrior. While those who respect him find his presence reassuring in times of crisis, his insistence on controlling outcomes to fit his vision can breed mistrust. Regardless of the means, Uji is determined to see his plans succeed, whether by his own hand or through those he has shaped.
