Tybalt Oceanfel was an Alderaanian who was offworld during its destruction. He raised his son, Destin, to be knowledgeable and proud of his people's old culture - a culture focused on philosophy, art, and poetry. Due to his pride in his culture, Destin is liable to dislike former members of the Empire and its sympathizers, along with anyone who thinks planetary destruction can result in good.

Having previously studied with the Grey Jedi Aran Tonor and learned of Eiko through him, Oceanfel is in pursuit the Obelisk; such is how he came across the Esstran Sector and New Tython. Destin is not relentless in his search, but he aims to find and bring Eiko to justice; if not now, then in the near future.

It's often said that courage is bravery in the face of fear. If that's the case, Destin is courageous. He feels fear - every time he crosses blades with a foe, he is afraid. Every time a blaster is leveled at him, he is afraid. Every time the shields on his ship shudder, he is afraid. But Destin faces his fear, and fights through it - to the point that he is exceedingly good at overcoming his fears. However, needing to overcome his fears leads Destin to a lot of frightening situations in the first place.

Suffering and misfortune are simply opportunities to grow in virtue, and virtue is sufficient for happiness. Well, it's supposed to be. Apparently, happiness and enlightenment aren't that easy to obtain. Destin lives a life according to the tenets of the Jedi Code to the best of his ability, but can't quite grasp why he lives a life unfulfilled.

Destin has learned to depend on his strength - a strength that surpasses most around him. His fighting style, naturally, has adapted. Straightforward attacking and defending tends to be enough for him - he doesn't rely on tricks, intricacies, or mind-games. However, a punch or two from his knuckles may be interspersed with lightsaber blows...

The blades - or blasters, or battleships - are out, and the fight has begun. Whatever the nature of the skirmish, a true battle is a matter of honor. Destin believes it can end only one of two ways - with victory, or with defeat. There is no middle ground. Destin will not flee except in the most dire of circumstances... but the Force help those who would try to flee from him of end a battle prematurely.
