Trained from childhood to become a soldier for the First Order, Finn sports a dense, athletic build, that is slightly stockier than the average Human. His dark skin, round face, wide nose and full lips are accentuated by a set of bright, expressive brown eyes. His black, wiry curls are kept neat, tight and short-cropped to his head.
Finn is most commonly seen wearing a simple all-black suit that consists of a standard long sleeve combat shirt, black fatigues and weatherproof boots. He wears a brown leather Resistance fighter jacket that he "borrowed" from ally and friend Poe Dameron. He carries his blaster rifle in a sling over one shoulder.
Captain Finn (FN-2187) has not created any public loadouts yet.
A product of the First Order's methodical, systematized military training programs, FN-2187 was trained from birth to be a soldier. Though his agility, endurance, coordination and accuracy scored high marks, he lacked the combat zeal or submission to authority that was evident in other Stormtroopers. The ever-present First Order propaganda never really took its hold on his heart either, leading his motives to excel as personal, not political. He is more concerned with protecting his squadmates than bringing order to the galaxy, which eventually lead him to making the toughest decision of his life: renouncing the First Order.
Once known only as FN-2187, Finn gained his new name after rescuing rebel pilot Poe Dameron from Kylo Ren's interrogation chair. In doing so, Finn effectively renounced the First Order. It was not until escaping the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer, the Finalizer, that he fully realized the consequences of his actions. Having made enemies of Kylo Ren and his Order, Finn knew he had to run, and was intent on disappearing into the Outer Rim. His mind changed, however, when he saw the First Order unleash its ultimate weapon to wipe out an entire system. As such, Finn's Resolve has become one of his defining characteristics. Even when facing down the infamous Kylo Ren, Finn will hold his ground and fight even if he knows he cannot win.
Finn has a friendly, charming personality that conceals just how unprepared he is for life outside of the First Order. Used to relying on his fellow troopers and commanders, Finn finds himself instinctively trusting strangers rather easily, which can be taken advantage of by those of darker intent. His Empathy is bolstered by his contagious charisma, making it easier for people to trust and follow him, even if he is not exactly sure of what he is doing. Nonetheless, Finn will always do what he feels is the right thing in a given situation, even if it means trouble for him down the line.
Finn's isolated growth within the First Order is challenged with every step he takes in the Galaxy. Whenever presented with a difficult challenge, Finn will voice his concerns while still springing into action. While he might not have the experience and savvy to handle every sticky situation he gets into, he is able to make gut-decisions in the heat of chaos and always finds a way to somehow accomplish his task. With every obstacle he overcomes, Finn becomes more confident in himself and his actions, but it still remains to be seen how he will handle the inevitable failures he will encounter.
Stormtrooper FN-2187 was considered to be the top marskman in his class after firing his blaster only thirty-six times and scoring kills with thirty-five of those during a difficult training exercise. Finn feels most at ease with a blaster in his hands, and will always look to equip one before resorting to any other kind of weapon. While able to pull off a wide array of marksmanship feats whether he is prone or in motion, Finn's melee and close quarter skills leave something to be desire.
Finn's knowledge of the First Order's tactics, protocols, and operations is an invaluable asset to the Resistance. This same knowledge also makes him a formidable foe when facing off against First Order forces in the field. While this makes Finn highly effective when going up against the First Order, he is woefully ignorant of the other factions or enemies he may encounter. He is also more comfortable working together with others than flying solo, where his combat skills might not necessarily back up his tactical knowledge.
