Having been born inside a star-ship as opposed to planet-side, Dain Cathis has never had a particular world to call his home. He grew up in an environment that requires being of use in order to survive, and without the borders that breed patriotism. The allegiances of the galaxy mean little to him, only the strength of individual merit. He is most at peace when in space, and will take on any contract or mission that enables him to remain firmly seated in a cockpit.

This utter lack of affiliation often results in what can be construed as insubordination and disloyalty, putting him at odds with those that value such things.

Dain Cathis looks at any problem he comes across and instead of immediately complaining about it sets out to figuring out a solution. He will work tirelessly to find workarounds or a solution, but can often overthink the resolution and come up with a "fix" that is actually more complex than needed. This driven approach to fixing problems can be helpful at times but grating at others when a simple "restart" would have accomplished the task quicker than re-programming the entire device.

Dain Cathis rarely acts without an alternate motive when it comes to lending aid or acting in a situation. Be it greed, power, or something else, almost undoubtedly Dain Cathis is after something more than what he says - though sometimes Dain Cathis is even blunt enough to admit to it. While his self-serving attitude comes as a boon, usually, to his survival and pocketbook, his relationships are often strained by his outright selfish attitude.

Dain Cathis is extremely cocksure and headstrong. Possessing a keen wit and exceptional level of intelligence, Dain Cathis will often use his superior intellect to humiliate lesser minds. Basically, he is kind of a jerk, and that can sometimes get Dain Cathis in a bit of trouble.

Sometimes the only way to prepare for the worst is to always expect it. Dain Cathis takes this philosophy one step further by never leaving home without accounting for every possible scenario he might expect to encounter. Dain Cathis tends to always have the right tool or item for a situation and has a habit of quietly and almost smugly presenting solutions before anyone even recognizes there is a problem. This foresight is far from infallible, however, and he often finds himself at a loss in situations that go beyond what he could have imagined. While incredibly practical and often a life-saver in a pinch, his perpetually pessimistic outlook on daily life can be a bit draining on more optimistic-inclined companions.

When it comes to a fight, some like to posture, some like to act tough, some like to dance around and go through all sorts of fancy footwork. Dain Cathis? Dain Cathis doesn't bother with exotic battle stances, intricate maneuvers, or super-secret tactics. Dain Cathis, when cornered into a fight, prefers the ancient technique of a good kick to the nuts. And if that won't work, either because the enemy is a woman or has balls of steel, Dain Cathis isn't beyond pulling a few more cheap tricks out of the bag. Granted, Dain Cathis won't be winning any medals for nobility or any prestige for a unique fighting style or a superb maneuver, but Dain Cathis will still be winning, the best and most dirty way he knows how.
