Corazon Ya-ir is a young Pantoran male of average height and a noticeably petite build. While Cora is small, he has the svelte body of a healthy, lifetime dancer with some noticeable definition on a tight frame. His pale, pink hair is kept short and gentlemanly styled, the soft strands parted to the side and combed neatly back towards his ears. The Pantoran has a bright, welcoming smile and warm golden eyes. Corazon also has traditional yellow Pantoran markings on the blue skin of his face which signify his affiliation his family's house, Ya-ir.
Born into a minor noble family, Corazon was raised to be a courtly gentleman: to be polite, poised, and proper at all times; to act, not merely to speak; to be courteous and respectful even of those who are of no service to him, and humbly at the service of his betters in society. Trained so, Cora naturally falls into the role of diplomat and will seek to form consensus in any situation. He has a deeply ingrained respect for the law and for societal expectations, though he will resist any tradition that he sees to harm others. The Pantoran’s peerless upper-class education and upbringing help him blend seamlessly into high society, but leave him utterly lost in the galactic underworld or in groups of working class peoples. His refined demeanor and manner of speech also cause him to appear stuck up to those who don’t share a similar background.
Before he met his partner, Ruka Tenbriss, Cora was unsure of who he was, unable to see past the future his family had laid out for him. Ruka changed all that. The Mirialan inspired Corazon to be bold, face his fears, and forge his own path in the universe. Ru helped Cora see beyond the bubble of the upper echelons of Kiast society, and to believe he could be a force for change for those less fortunate. Cora remains committed to the Jedi and the Light side of the Force, but Ruka showed him the beauty of the Bogan and the need for the Dark. When together, they stand united, practicing Battle Meditation as a balanced whole. Being apart on their separate missions, though, can be taxing. Cora may act irrationally where Ruka is concerned, even breaking with Jedi teaching and cultural norms, alienating him from family and allies.
Corazon radiates optimism like the sun piercing the night at dawn. He knows atrocities happen and has a growing awareness of the ugly side of the galaxy, but chooses to hold to hope instead of surrendering to despair and cynicism. Cora truly believes that people are fundamentally good and that no one is irredeemable. To him, every sentient being is blessed with the ability to choose to be better. It isn't that he doesn't believe in consequences; the young Jedi has a strong sense of justice from his traditional upbringing, but it is tempered by an equally strong belief in mercy.
He will always try to find the positive side to any situation and emphasize that to inspire his comrades. Cora’s optimism can easily be seen as naivete, however, or even an opportunity to take advantage of the young man by the more jaded denizens of the galaxy.
Creativity flows through Cora stronger than the Force itself. He delights in learning new forms of expression from every culture he comes into contact with and sharing them with new friends he meets. While the Pantoran has dabbled in music and painting in his time, dance is his absolute passion; it is the voice with which he speaks and the fire in his soul. Almost since he could walk, Cora has been drawn to the stage and moved to the music in his heart. He has studied, performed and even competed in various dance styles from traditional to contemporary.
Cora’s love of art and dance can be seen as frivolous and immature in a galaxy at war, causing some to disregard him. But to him, every color, shade, note, or movement in a work of art is a celebration of life itself, and what else could more important?
Above all else, Corazon has taken the Jedi philosophy of preservation of life to heart. Peaceful, he will do everything in his power to avoid a physical confrontation; but when combat does break out, he will focus his efforts on bolstering his comrades and protecting civilians. He relies on defensive abilities such as Barrier, Force Cloak, and Battle Meditation to help turn the tide in battle and keep others from harm. His commitment to life is so strong he will Stun someone about to make a killing blow, ally or enemy alike.
Cora’s reliance on defense leaves him without any significant offensive capability when allies are not in the vicinity, though, and his pacifist tendencies can cause conflict with more aggressive teammates.
Corazon’s endlessly patient nature and passion for dance have carried over into how he approaches close quarters combat; he has focused his saber techniques and martial arts training into styles that utilize the practiced control the Pantoran has over his body. He flows gracefully as air with the movement of battle, pirouetting past opponents, weaving around attacks, and precisely parrying blows until the right moment to end the fight with minimal harm to his aggressor or those nearby presents itself. He is at a moment's notice a playful zephyr breeze evading capture and a powerful wall of wind turning away threats. This approach prolongs single engagements during long missions, leaving him vulnerable if outlasted, and can frustrate allies as lacking decisiveness and efficiency.
