Hyle, unsurprisingly, looks very much like a typical space drifter. He is tall and rangy with a ruddy complexion and black hair, which he tends to cut very short.
His eyes are pale green and deep set in a thin, sharp featured face. When he does grow a beard is is often short but thick, which means that he is rarely truly clean shaven, usually sporting a thin shadow of stubble.
His upper right arm has a stretched and faded ship's badge tattoo featuring the sillhouette of a Bulk Cruiser.
Hyle Alihandross's life is filled with training and learning for all sorts of situations, from the mind-numbingly normal to the utterly bizarre. As such, Hyle Alihandross has developed into a rather resourceful individual. This has made Hyle Alihandross a mix of academic and scholar, always with something to offer to any discussion. However, knowledge and training does not always translate well to the tense environment of the battlefield, and no amount of textbooks can prepare one for reality...
Having been born inside a star-ship as opposed to planet-side, Hyle Alihandross has never had a particular world to call his home. He grew up in an environment that requires being of use in order to survive, and without the borders that breed patriotism. The allegiances of the galaxy mean little to him, only the strength of individual merit. He is most at peace when in space, and will take on any contract or mission that enables him to remain firmly seated in a cockpit.
This utter lack of affiliation often results in what can be construed as insubordination and disloyalty, putting him at odds with those that value such things.
While generally laid back and more than happy to offer a quip of sarcasm, Hyle Alihandross's entire demeanor changes once combat begins. He becomes focused and quiet, with his smile replaced with a look of grim determination.
Hyle Alihandross doesn't do anything without first having a plan, and is constantly overheard advising others to always “think through their exits”. Every movement he makes—be it combative, manipulative or otherwise—is premeditated and thought out ahead of time. This foresight often places Hyle Alihandross two steps ahead of his peers. However, when plans go awry, Hyle Alihandross often has to first backtrack those same two steps to address the present, and that hesitation can often be line between success and failure in the heat of a situation.
When it comes to a fight, some like to posture, some like to act tough, some like to dance around and go through all sorts of fancy footwork. Hyle Alihandross? Hyle Alihandross doesn't bother with exotic battle stances, intricate maneuvers, or super-secret tactics. Hyle Alihandross, when cornered into a fight, prefers the ancient technique of a good kick to the nuts. And if that won't work, either because the enemy is a woman or has balls of steel, Hyle Alihandross isn't beyond pulling a few more cheap tricks out of the bag. Granted, Hyle Alihandross won't be winning any medals for nobility or any prestige for a unique fighting style or a superb maneuver, but Hyle Alihandross will still be winning, the best and most dirty way he knows how.
Sometimes the only way to prepare for the worst is to always expect it. Hyle Alihandross takes this philosophy one step further by never leaving home without accounting for every possible scenario he might expect to encounter. Hyle Alihandross tends to always have the right tool or item for a situation and has a habit of quietly and almost smugly presenting solutions before anyone even recognizes there is a problem. This foresight is far from infallible, however, and he often finds himself at a loss in situations that go beyond what he could have imagined. While incredibly practical and often a life-saver in a pinch, his perpetually pessimistic outlook on daily life can be a bit draining on more optimistic-inclined companions.
