With sharp, slanted brown eyes too old for his face and a diminished frame, Uji has the look of a soldier forgotten by war. His body atrophied by time and lack of conditioning, the former Obelisk still strides straight-backed, assured in how he carries himself despite this. The stressed lines slowly appearing on his vital features are occasionally broken by the quick smirk, and he can often be found arching one of his dark brows in exasperation.
Uji's skin is a pale, oriental tan, marred by a multitude of scars and marks, particularly two long, thin twin scars across his sharp, straight nose, running from below his left eye to the other side of his face. His strong jaw and pronounced cheeks are covered by a neatly-kept, full goatee and framed by the occasional loose locks of dark black hair that slip from the knot he keeps it in. His strong posture is only slightly undercut by the slant of his step as he leans on a cane.
Uji is not one to tolerate mediocrity or inaction. He appreciates efficacy above all else and disdains anything less. This often leads him to see most of his colleagues as incompetent or foolish, worth only as much as their use in his plots and plans. These views are compounded by his own bone-deep pride and stubbornness, which often causes him to see only himself as able to achieve anything of worth. This leads him to strive for power and command, seeking to bring order to himself, others, and the world as he sees fit. For all his good intentions, his ambitions can make him seem callous, cruel, and even arrogant as he goads, tricks, and baits those around him into doing what he wants them to do.
Uji is well aware that he is not a good man. His brutality and years spent manipulating circumstances to achieve desired results have convinced many that he is utterly heartless. But this is not entirely true. His goal is to create a world that would have no place in it for someone as cold, calculating, and ruthless as him. Such is the responsibility Uji takes upon himself, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. To this end, he will not shy from taking innocent lives, lying to friends and clanmates, working with an enemy, or struggling through hell to help someone. He will see it done or be damned trying.
Patience and intelligence are two of Uji's few virtues. He is a careful planner by nature, and is perfectly comfortable spending years weaving threads just how he wants them. This can make him appear reckless when his well-thought out plans lead to much intended chaos. This slow, cunning approach makes him a good tactician, impressive problem-solver, and careful manipulator. However it can also prevent him from recognizing when a different approach might be better, or from acting on the spur of the moment when it's needed.
For all that a part of Uji cares, there is no part of him that will hesitate to kill when necessary. It does not matter who his target may be - man or women, Human or alien, wizened grandmother or young child. If an individual becomes too much of a threat to the whole that he is responsible for, Uji will execute him or her without blinking. He does not believe in imprisonment or rehabilitation, believing that these things are half measures. Instead he considers the swiftest and most direct method of disposal to be the correct one. Uji has no concern over displaying this particular trait, and it can make him feared, alienated, hated, or all three.
Uji prided himself on his capability as a fighter for a significant period of his life, and his physical prowess allowed him to ignore the responsibility of leadership and need for conscientious decision in his own actions. As he has matured within the Brotherhood, he has found time and again that his Intellect and ability to manipulate those around him have brought him further than his strength ever could. His numerous injuries have hindered his abilities further, forcing him to rely on these other talents. This leads to no small measure of frustration in being forced to consider alternatives to confronting problems physically, instead relying on his foresight and ability to execute detailed plans as alternatives to drawing a saber.
Uji's years of battle and hardship have left him all but physically crippled with a weakened heart. While the man had accepted this fact and was proud to instead use his considerable mind to solve problems, changes in circumstances have lead him to find new avenues of attack. He has developed more of a supportive role in combat, slowing enemies or suppressing powered individuals while teammates attack under his protection. If directly confronted with a situation he can’t avoid, he is all too aware that in a direct confrontation he has little hope against even a moderately competent opponent. His final resort is to release the rage inside of him, to fully embrace the Dark Side as his younger self once did, fully knowing the sacrifice would be just that: final. Any such attempt is knowingly suicidal.
