Specifics

In honour of the fact that we're all transitioning to summer times (except those weird folk who live upsidedown on the wrong side of the globe), it's time again to celebrate the NHL playoffs.

Platform

There aren't any great options for how I want to run and score the league, so it'll be done manually with everyone emailing me their picks before each round. I will keep track of the scores by Excel and update everyone after each round.

Details

This runs differently than other brackets like the NCAA, so read carefully. You ONLY pick one round at a time, so you aren't screwed over by upsets in the first round. I want participants to stay engaged throughout, hence why this is that way.

Before each rounds' games start, email me with your selection for which teams will win and in how many games each series will end (ie - Kings in 6, Oilers in 4, etc...). The start date of the competition is listed as the end of the regular season, first games are expected to be played on April 15, 2015, so email me before then.

Late subscription is fine, as the scores didn't get too spread out even after each round due to the way the points scaled and the fact that everyone got to re-pick each round.

Scoring

This seemed to work well last year and actually made it so that the last rounds still mattered and anyone had a chance to win it, so I'm not going to mess with it.

Correct teams will earn you 1 point in round 1, 2 in round 2, 4 in round 3, 8 in the Cup Finals.

A single bonus point will be awarded for each series you correctly predict the length of.

Notes

Due to new rules this year, I am ineligible to win the event, so there's a guaranteed chance there'll be a new winner! I will still be defending my bragging rights as 2-time defending champion, so if you win, expect that the record books will show an * by your win :p
