"The Rising Tides"

Following the destruction of Antei, Grand Master Pravus’ rise to power has brought with it a tide of drastic changes within the Dark Brotherhood. It started with the purging of the Obelisk and Krath orders, but soon gained traction as the Grand Master set his sites on ridding the brotherhood of alien species of "lesser" standing. These groups would later come to be known as "Undesirables".

Karfur—long time home to Clan Taldryan—has been sacked by the Justicar of the Brotherhood, forcing them to flee to unknown space. Clan Arcona and Clan Tarentum worked through the aftermath of Wuntila Arconae’s betrayal and the subsequent end to the Krath Rebellion. The two old allies aligned with Clan Plagueis in an attempt to eliminate Darth Pravus, but were unsuccessful.

Plagueis has returned to their home system and looks to recover their footing as they rebuild their forces. Clan Scholae Palatinae waits patiently to determine their position in the larger scheme while Clan Naga Sadow works to remain isolated from direct conflict with the Iron Throne.

The rebel resistance—begun by the outcast Jedi of Clan Odan-Urr—has grown to include Arcona and now Tarentum as well as any who stand to oppose the will of the Grand Master and his “New Order”. The Lotus —as the rebels now call themselves—have struck a major setback to starship production by attacking a key manufacturing yard.

While the Grand Master has yet to retaliate, the seven Clans of the Brotherhood stand on the verge of violent conflict...

The Prompt

Whispers have begun to circulate the ranks of the Brotherhood that the Grand Master plans on launching a major offensive assault on any remaining threats to his “New Order”. It started with keywords being detected on the holonet and from snippets of information taken from scrolls within the Shadow Academy archives. Scholars, engineers, and other persons of interest have started to go missing with little trace. Increased traffic by the Inquisition and prosecution of “undesirables” has the Brotherhood on watch. Some have even speculated the construction of some kind of weapon.

Objectives

Objective A: Resistance

Your have been given a tip by a trusted source within the Lotus resistance about a key component to Darth Pravus’ alleged plans to launch a massive assault.

You are to form or ally with a team of sympathetic members to out and put an end to whatever it is that Pravus is planning. The clock is ticking, and Pravus could launch his assault at any moment. The Dark Council and its array of resources stand against you, but the Lotus are desperate to prevent a repeat of New Tython.

Objective B: Inquisition

You have been given a tip by the Voice of the Brotherhood that a rebel splinter cell is going to attempt to hit a key location to Pravus’ plans for an offensive assault.

You have formed, volunteered, or been assigned to a small team of fellow Inquisitors that must prevent any kind of rebellious attempts to thwart Pravus’ plans, ensuring that his machinations are able to bloom to fruition. The Dark Council stands by your side, and the Grand Master rewards his loyal followers, but the clock is ticking, and there are many who do not wish for Pravus to succeed.

Tips From the Voice

Winning entries will do well to:

• Stick to the theme of discovering Pravus’ “plans”, as this keeps in touch with the spirit of the Rouge One event as well as the current Brotherhood Plotline.
• Tell a compelling story.
• Explore and utilize elements of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood space, venues, personalities, organizations, and both player and nonplayer characters.
• Most importantly, have fun. The prompt is open ended enough that you should be able to go in many different directions.
• Make use of the Run-On Launch Page. It organizes all the information needed for writing your stories in one place!

Competition Details

Format: Small Team

Teams

• Teams can consist of four (4) to seven (7) members.
• Members can form teams with any combination of members from across the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. (Example: 2 members of Taldryan, 1 member of Arcona, and 1 member of Odan Urr)
• Rogues may participate.
• Dark Councilors may participate.

Posting

• Any member posting twice in a row will disqualify their team from placing.
• Posts must meet the following requirements: Minimum post length: 250 +/- 10 words. || Maximum post length: None (Have Fun).
• Edits may occur on a post until a follow up post has been made (follow on posts include "reserving" a space). Edits may only be made by the posts original author (as in, if you have Forum Administration Rights, you cannot edit another member’s work).
• Members may reserve post, but no posts can occur until after the reserved post is written.
• Each team will create one (1) thread on discourse forum for DC Celebration Run-Ons. All members posts are to be published to the discourse thread to count.
• Threads should include the [Rogue One] tag.
• Teams should have a name, whether it's as basic as "Team 1" or as creative as "Team Rainbow Vader".

Placement / Participation

• Each member of a team must make two (2) posts each for a team to qualify for placement.
• Each member of a team must make two (2) posts in individually to qualify for participation credit and Clusters of Ice.

Grading:

• Grading will be handled using the Run-On Grading standard, which will see its first use.
• The Winning entry and other story beats from completed Run-Ons may be considered for inclusion in DB Plotline Canon.
