Competition: The Definition of Loyalty

Finished
The Definition of Loyalty

"Many of the truths that we cling to depend on our point of view."
―Obi-Wan Kenobi

"I was not elected to watch my people suffer and die while you discuss this invasion in a committee."
―Padme Amidala

Loyalty is defined as faithfulness or devotion to a person, cause, or nation. These loyalties are not only key to understanding your characters, but they help inform the everyday decisions that bring your character to where they are today. Not only can you be loyal to many different things, but they can also conflict with each other. These struggles force your character to evaluate what they truly care about the most.

Everyone has loyalties and the struggles that come with them, but the more interesting question is why? Why is your character loyal to those they have pledged allegiance to? Or are they only loyal to themselves?

Prompt:

Write a fiction at least 500 words in length - no maximum - that details why your character is loyal, making sure to include in the story what they are loyal to.

Grading Criteria:

Grading will be based on the Fiction Rubric.
