Ways of the Force: The Dark

Abstract art can be utilized and performed by literally anyone.

You don’t need any particular form of experience or knowledge to express yourself through abstract art.

Because you are not necessarily attempting to capture any particular likeness in abstract art, true freedom can be enjoyed. Don't be afraid to step out and try something new while you draw, paint, sketch, etc.

Objective: You will be prompted to create a piece of abstract art based on the Dark Side of the Force. What is your character's opinion on the Darkness? Is it something they cling to or abhor? What colors resonate with the Dark Side of the Force to your character? Express what the Dark Side of the Force looks like to you personally. You can do this through watercolors, acrylics, sketching, sketchbook, markers, whatever medium you wish.

Grading: All entries will be graded with this criteria rubric

How to Submit:

Submit through the site. Formats: .png, .jpg. Feel free to include an explanation of your art. However, it is not required.

Done with red pastel, chalk, and different grades of charcoal.

Tahiri's vision of the Dark side of the Force is all inclusive. Even though she is "light of heart" at times, the Dark side is her source of closure and revenge, protection and retaliation. She still sees the Light just off to the side and may sometimes turn towards or glance at it, however her goals always draw her back, centering her, on her true calling within the Darkness.

"Corrupted Chaos"

Got some inspiration from nature, fire, and smoke as well as corruption of the dark side (or Bogan) represented by the splotches for this one. Shadows of the unknown and somehow nature's volcano served as inspiration for this as well.

They way I see the Dark Side is it is like a melting glacier that turns into a raging flood. It will overwhelm you by pure brutal force and lay waste to everything you knew.

This is the path down the dark side, starting with passion. Being able to have passion and anger are the best selling points of the Dark Side, but lead to pain and sadness. The white spaces in between show the chance for redemption, but once they are completely into the black there is no hope.
