Competition: One Character, One Hundred Words

Finished
One Character, One Hundred Words

Sometimes less really is more. For all the times people will write sagas about their characters, it is often only the brief moments which stand out, the single actions which help define them. As such, this challenge is an opportunity to focus upon creating one single moment to present them at their best, with each story limited to 100 words. Think of it as something which you might present in brief to give a succinct impression of just who the person you are writing is. This could be a cold open to a bigger fight, part of a larger unseen event, or even some fragment of their past. So, please be creative.

As a fair warning however, while this will be judged based upon the Fiction Grading Rubric, it will not offer clusters of ice due to the short length of this work.

I marveled as I held the subject in my hands. Success had eluded me but no longer.
The creature was a twisted vision of its former Kath pup form. It recoiled with a growl as I extended my hand toward it. Doubtless it recognized its tormentor.

No matter. I stretched out my hand with one quick motion. The sickening sound of breaking bone echoed out. The body of the creature dropped as I released it. It was no matter. There were plenty of other subjects. It was a small loss. Besides, the Art of Sith Alchemy requires many small sacrifices.

“Welp, I’m no lawyer fella.” The loud, boastful voice sounded from the hallway to someone outside of view of those in the Council room but all could easily make out the conversation. “But after that exchange, I’m thinking it's in your best interest to ask for mercy.”
Immediately a Nautolan sauntered into the room with a crooked smile while jerking a thumb over his shoulder back at the prisoner.
“Did you guys want me to just tell this fella to get his last meal picked out and head on down to the gallows already?

Laren Uscot was surrounded by battle. Streams of multi-colored plasma streaked through the night sky, impacting the debris and rubble of fallen buildings beyond. In the distance an explosive detonated, tossing soldiers and rubble into the air in a mess of burnt flesh and molten metal. Soldiers on both sides of the battle were screaming, running, and dying on both sides. Not for the first time, the Pantoran found himself in the thick of battle, eager to dispatch his enemies, but illuminated by the fact the battle had ground to a bloody stalemate. In over his head, indeed.

A flurry of leaves flew past the Jedi’s face as he plummeted towards the ground. The sound of continuous snapping filled his ears as he spun, punching a hole through the smaller, weaker branches. Droveth caught sight of a sturdier branch mid-rotation and threw his arm out to grasp it.

A bright flash of light shot last the Peacekeeper and the branch erupted in a shower of sparks and splinters. Instead of making contact with branch, Droveth now dropped right through its shattering debris.

“Your a son-of-a-bitch, McNulty!” The Jedi roared up into the canopy.

Flashes of memories kept coming across her mind. She'd see her amber colored lightsaber illuminate her sleeping parents' room, then would see them begging on their knees.

"Alara... We love you, we are so sorry." Her father said. Crystal, her Sephi mother, was clinging to her husband with sobs in her chest.

"You should have thought of that before you sent me away!" Alara yelled in her memory. "Parents that love their children don't sell their kids to slavery to pay off some foolish debt." She watched herself spit to the ground and lift her saber to completely behead them.
