Competition: [CSP] Imperial Scholae Intelligence

Finished
[CSP] Imperial Scholae Intelligence

The Imperial Scholae Intelligence is highly outdated and no longer fits with the principles of the clan. Redesign how you think the ISI should be structured and function. Ideally, this should adhere to the clan theme of copying the Galactic Empire as much as possible, but also think about how the clans and battleteams fit in. We have a spy team in Imperium (Paelleon), an assassin team in Excidium (Tacitus Athanasius). Think about how the ISI should interact with the army and navy.

While this article requires you to write a wiki article, you are not required to format the text in wiki code or upload anything. We're just looking for the content of the article, not the code.

Imperial Scholae Intelligence has long been based on Galactic Empire’s Imperial Intelligence, but that organization has been a mixed bag throughout the Star Wars Universes. Sometimes incredibly rigid, sometimes with people having the power to make up new ranks and pay grades on a whim, with agents roaming the galaxy and commandeering ships as they went... nah, that fwec oughta go.

In this restructure, I’ll take a simplified approach as is sometimes seen of the CIA in TV productions, and attempt to bring it in tune with the Star Wars universe.

First, the ISI will be separated into branches. These are:
-Analyst Branch
-Field Branch
-Operations Branch
-Paramilitary Branch
-Research & Development Branch

Then we’ll take a look at
-Deployments with CSP’s Forces
-Battleteams

**The Analyst Branch** shall be the entry step into the ISI, and numerically the largest. Every agent working for the ISI will undergo Analyst training and get some practice in to learn what kind of information is important, and how to file it and connect the dots into an informed picture of the situation in question. Ranks come with seniority and brilliant analyses. In the Sith Empire of TOR, they would have been low-ranking watchers.

**The Field Branch** are the people working directly at acquiring information. For that, they usually trade favors, grease palms, and try to recruit locals with access to whatever the Clan wants to know.

They rarely get involved with aggressive reconnaissance, relying on and facilitating the flow of information that reaches them, like a passive sensor array. Ranks are not important here, since they usually work alone and have no need to assert authority.

**The Operations Branch** are senior Analysts or Field Agents who went on to lead and coordinate other agents, and are the path to leadership positions in the ISI. In TOR, they would be ranking Watchers, or Handlers in any other context.

They usually head a handful of Field Agents and analysts to work on a specific case or region, and report to a Director who has come from their own ranks and oversees a larger area or case. At the top of that power pyramid is the Consul herself, lording over several senior Directors.

**The Paramilitary Branch** is probably the smallest of ISI’s branches. People serving there are little more than well-trained and deniable mercenaries, providing security for short-term forward posts, emergency firepower, and a manpower base for inglorious and long-term work like training insurrectionists. Thus, they free up the more valuable assets - the Clan’s Battleteams - for higher profile short term assignments.

**Research & Development** has two jobs: build the best new spy toys, and make sure the other factions don’t get a leg up on CSP.

That’s literally it.

**Deployment** is an option for senior Analysts and Handlers. The former will usually be attached to a starship alone or as pairs, the latter and their team will support Army and Navy formations of Regiment or Flotilla size and upwards. Their task is to intercept and decipher communications and give their patron units an informed picture of the situation, as well as maybe open a path of lesser resistance by utilizing contacts and sympathizers.

**The Battleteams** will serve like TOR’s Cipher Agents: roaming free, commandeering troops as needed, hounding down targets or committing to short-term high-profile missions such as stealing data and assassinating key personnel.

They will also vet senior Analysts and Handlers as well as the Directors with help of the Force, and recruit those who pass into a shadowy Counterintelligence Branch.
