Prompt

During the Battle of Naboo in 32 BBY, The Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn was lost in a lightsaber duel to Darth Maul alongside his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Later during that same duel, the future Jedi Master outsmarted the Sith Lord, cutting him in two and setting him tumbling into the pit below. What if Maul had won instead of Kenobi and killed the Jedi?

Write a fiction depicting a tale on how your character’s life might have been different had Darth Maul won his first lightsaber duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Scoring

• All entries will be graded using the Voice Fiction Rubric, with the score averaged between the two graders
• Placements 1-3 will earn the following point values towards overall placement in the Nemesis Series (while participation will grant 1 point):
  • First Place: 5 points
  • Second Place: 4 points
  • Third Place: 3 points
