In an arguably more thrilling twist on the tradition of kissing under the mistletoe, the Shadow Academy Society members have vowed instead to engage in combat with anyone who they find (or lure) under the mistletoe with them.

Participants may begin their brawl immediately or challenge their foe to a duel in the yards outside the feast hall, but they may not take time to sober up or to find suitable weapons - fight with whatever you have on hand, or improvise! Duels may be to the death or otherwise arranged, so long as there is a clear victor.

Determine your opponent (remember to get permission if you choose an actual player’s character) and describe both your meeting under the Mistlefoe and the subsequent brawl in a minimum of 500 words.

*Note: while this is a combat writing exercise, it is not cooperative - the entire duel is up to you!

Participants must submit entries in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format, or use the submission text field on the site.

Entries will be judged based on the Fiction Grading Rubric 2.0, with emphasis on comedy and creativity.

You will receive 1 point for participation in this competition. The top three participants will earn additional 5, 4 and 3 points, respectively.
