Well, that was unexpected. Who would have thought that the ancient Selenian tomb contained evil shadowy creatures that hunger for the flesh of the living? Fortunately, we just happened to be here! So let’s get to work to save the day!

But how will your character go about doing that?

• Rescue the hostages! Though the monsters killed several members of the research team, most were confirmed to be still alive when they were dragged into the temple. It is unknown how long they will remain that way. Will your character get there to save the day? What else might they find in the temple? Treasure? Even worse monsters? Who knows!

• Kill the shadow creatures! Even though most of the monsters retreated back into the temple, a few of the hungrier ones are still in the resort, terrorizing and killing anyone unfortunate enough to get in their way. It’s time for the hunters to become the hunted. Track down and kill any of the remaining creatures!

• Neither of the above. Sure, your character could delve into the tomb or go rescue people. Orrrrrr, they could do something else! Perhaps your character continues their vacation? Or maybe they slip away from the rescue party to do some exploring on their own. What are they up to, if left to their own devices?

Write a fiction using one or more of the prompts above. The fiction should feature your main and/or alt character, and be at least 500 words in length, with no maximum word count. Valid submissions accepted in .pdf, .doc and .docx formats. The fictions will be graded following the Voice Fiction Grading Rubric. Winners will receive Third Level Crescents and Clusters of Ice. Participation and placement will also result in earning points toward the parent competition:

• 1st place will receive 3 points
  
• 2nd place will receive 2 points
  
• 3rd place will receive 1 points
  
• Participation will earn 1 point.
