Two Years Ago:

News emerging from the Dalicron Sector has been concerning in the past months. The rise of Gander Denos and his Human League to power had brought with it whispers and reports of political crackdowns on dissidents, persecutions of religious minorities and aliens of all types, and worse still. Official news was hard to come by with the Human League's hostility towards the Republic and policy of Human-Alien diversity, so it all remained somewhat like gossip until events in the Dalicron Sector came home to roost. It was unreal and hard to believe so long as it was over there, but it became very real and very personal the moment You opened that message. You hadn't thought to hear from them ever again, perhaps there'd been a falling out or you'd just lost touch but They were the last person in the galaxy you ever expected to hear from. Their message was brief but it was clear, "If you can't help me get out of here, something terrible is going to happen. The Human League has labeled me an Undesirable."

War is not something that happens all at once. There is always a lead up and in its wake it vacuums up those in its way until it gains a critical mass and snowballs out of control. War has not yet broken out with the Human League but that does not mean that people in the Republic are not aware, or disgusted, by what they are hearing come out of their neighboring sector. Your character has been contacted out of the blue by someone from their past, someone important. They have called for your aid and your character must decide how, or if, they can. Write a fiction, at least 500 words, exploring the reasons why your character is drawn towards helping this person and the turmoil hearing from them has caused. This fiction should be a stepping stone towards describing your character's ultimate disposition towards the xenophobic and fascistic dictatorship of Gander Denos and his Human League.
