The cohorts have formed, and Cassandra's efforts have been completely in vain following a terrorist attack on the Ostara moon with credit given to a Loyalist force, praising the Republic and the Senate. Much of the Admiralty has sided with the Traditionalist forces and a significant swath of the Armed Forces as well, resulting in the military becoming even more fractured than it had been before. With the Seitia Federation holding much of the front lines, largely under Republic control now following the efforts of the Summit Guard and the Traditionalists, much of the Republic military has been called back to Caelus including War Marshal Lee Starr.
This has caused concern among many of the Senators and Governors, as well as the OSI. Cassandra was especially surprised, as this decision was made by the Administrative Council without her input or her vote. Only apologies were given by Administrative Council Vice-Chair Frei-Jar Binks, as he anticipated the vote to not even be close, and did not feel it warranted her attention with everything else going on that was deemed more critical.
A blockade of Ostara had also been ordered by Frei-Jar Binks under the authorization of the Council, with Lady Second Cassandra Oriana Taldrya being away investigating an incident on the Perune Shipyards. During startup for flight training, plasma casings had failed resulting in the deaths of numerous engineers and pilots with foul play suspected. This decision by the Council Vice-Chair has put the flagships of the two sides, the Leviathan and the Axios, at direct odds with each other as the Traditionalist military refusing to allow the blockade to be established.
The situation is approaching a breaking point, with a proposal to be placed before the senate to be heard that would order arrest warrants for the Governors, Zxyl, Taldryanites openly aligned with the Traditionalists, and even Cassandra herself due to her constant dissent and efforts against the Council.
Suspicious begin to arise the more that Cassandra begins to piece things together, thinking back to the warning that Vice-Chancellor Ood Bnar had given her at the beginning. That a politician is always a politician. Paired with agents from the OSI, the time has come to investigate the one thing she had openly refused to accept...as it is the last remaining avenue to potentially avoid a full-out conflict.
Should this fail, and things continue...a full-out civil war could easily occur. And in the midst of a war already going on next door, it would be the worst case scenario for everyone.
With the situation rising and the theatre shifting on all fronts, your story continues...
