Prompt 2: Prisoner of War
Things didn’t go well and the mission went sideways. Now you’ve been taken as a Prisoner of War by the Human League along with the surviving members of your team or crew. Your captors take down your identifying information, process you through records, and sit you in an interrogation room where they want to learn more from you before you’re sent to a concentration camp somewhere to sit and wait for the war to end. They begin by asking you innocuous questions: what is your name, how old are you, where are you from, who are your parents and siblings, what was your job or role in the Taldryan Armed Forces or on that mission, etc. Soon however the questions become more pointed, and they want specific information from you that they can potentially use against the Republic.
While no one has threatened you, you are a captured combatant in the hands of your enemy. They have all of the power in this situation. What do you do? You know their ideology well enough, you’ve heard about their extreme Anti-Alien xenophobia, their visions of supremacy, and you might check a couple of the boxes that they just really hate. What do you do? What do they do?
Write a story, no shorter than 500 words, about your character’s experiences upon first becoming a POW in the hands of the fascist Human League. Entries will be judged using the Voice Fiction Grading Rubric 3.0.
