Haikus are short, yet powerful. Able to convey emotion, create a visual or even tell a story in three simple lines. Write a haiku that describes the new year for your character. This can be a feeling, reflecting on the past, a resolution, a place or anything you could argue fits the theme of the new year such as (but not limited to) new beginnings, new experiences, traditions, the past, the future, anything!

Haikus are poems written with words containing 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the next line and 5 syllables for the last line.

Poems will be graded based on staying to the structure of the poem (50%), creativity (30%) and adherence to the theme (20%). Ties will be broken based on creativity score.
