It is a constant struggle, and there's a high likelihood that the things you want to do are going to be hard, but you can never stop fighting for them. He's seen too many people give up on their dreams and goals because it was hard, and he resolutely refuses to let himself fall into that. Even as someone who has accomplished, by now, the vast majority of the things he was interested in doing...he still is always on the lookout for the next great adventure, a mystery to uncover, something new to learn. And of course, there are always fights worth fighting, and as someone who has more than just one life to give he is uniquely suited to throw himself into those fights.
5. It's All Nothing Until It's Everything - KNOWER (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDpeHQUSWT0) -- Alex knows that, despite everything, he is still just one man. He can't solve every problem, and there's plenty of things going on in the galaxy that he's never going to be able to change. But every little thing he can change can have a knock-on effect, and if his changes can influence two people to make a change, and those two people each influence two people to make a change...etc, etc, etc. Again due to his long life, he's seen sweeping changes start from the most simple beginnings and seemingly unimportant things: societies fallen, races vanish, governments rise and fall. Never discount the possibility of a single person doing what they can, starting from where they are.
