Specifics

Timeros stepped into his newly appointed office after his first day of his new duties. He sighed and sat down in his chair behind his desk, propping his feet upon said desk. Another sigh was given as he attempted to relax from the pressure of the day, the constant questions and complaints and requests. He grunted and shook his head at the thought of the inane things that people brought to him. He chuckled at himself, regardless of how silly the concerns and whatnot seemed he had to attend to them all and while some may seem silly they sometimes turned out to be serious. A noise caught his attention in the corner of his office, when he looked a small rodent scurried across the floor. 'Rodent?' He thought. This place was kept in top shape; there were no rodents in here, nothing for them to eat. His eyes narrowed while he lifted from his seat a tad to see where the rodent went to however before he could he ducked as something whizzed past his head. A curse followed and footsteps could be heard leaving, although they seemed to be coming within the walls. Timeros let a curse of his own go and quickly left his office, calling upon Strategos and a few select others to meet him in the assembly room.

Timeros stood in the front of the room with Strategos to his left. The others he called upon filed in and sat in front of him, waiting patiently for their briefing. He was hoping that of those he called none were the one who made the attempt on his life. He studied each of their faces for a moment before speaking.

“I have called each of you here because I feel you are the ones who can best help me. A few moments before I called you an attempt was made on my life. I should have figured one would eventually I just didn’t expect one so soon. I want each of you to figure out who did it and why. You may examine my office for any clues and I am available to you whenever if you have any questions.”

He dismissed them after the short briefing but neither he nor Strat left the room. Someone stepped out from the shadows, walking up to the pair as they conversed. Neither seemed aware of the figure but as the person neared Timeros turned around.

“Ah good, you came. I imagine other attempts will be made, I would like you near me at all times until this is resolved.”

The figure merely nodded a reply and waited for further instructions or for Timeros to move so he could follow.

As I am sure you’ve all guessed an attempt was made upon Timeros’ life. It is your duty to figure who and why. In this little excerpt I have given you two ways to write this story. Either from the point of view of one of the select few called into the assembly room or the one who stepped from the shadows to be Timeros’ personal guard. More attempts will be made on his life. Some questions you might want to figure out before writing this or while you are writing this, are:

Are you the one making the attempts? How many more attempts are made before the one making them is caught? Are any of the attempts successful or does Timeros escape them all? Is it a disgruntled applicant who wasn’t chosen for PCON? Is it someone who didn’t apply but felt Timeros was unfairly chosen? Is it Strat himself for whatever reason?

I’m sure you can find more questions that will help your story, but keep those in mind.
