Competition: The Purge of Satal\'s Landing

The Purge of Satal\'s Landing

Specifics

Plagueis has survived the threat of facing Sadow and Scholae, but the Quaestor's visions of calamity and death have not abated; Plagueis remains in mortal danger, and will face a threat that could result in the destruction of the Ascendant House. Now, new developments on Morroth, the coldest planet in the Plagueian-ruled Jusadih system, have arisen; once more, we may be facing down annihilation.

The mining town of Satal's Landing has long been a thorn in the side of the system's Military Regime and its Sith overlords. Since an influx of refugees after the Vong Incursion, the townspeople and their new companions have amassed huge stores of weaponry, ostensibly for the local militias that keep the town safe from the local beasts. But it has always been suspected that the town is used by the rebel Jusadih Independence Coalition as a hideout. Due to the plateau location of the town, the cost of facing its arsenal, the obviously booby-trapped mines, and the extremely hostile weather of Morroth itself, the Sith have never tried to eliminate the town as a threat. Now, they have no choice.

Cutting through new passages in the ice and rock, the miners of Satal's Landing have accidentally penetrated an ancient Sith bunker. Inside, ancient artifacts of the Dark Side have driven the miners mad, and now, the town fights itself in a bid for survival. Kymar Swift, the de facto Zabrak mayor and militia leader for Satal's Landing, has done the right thing and overcome the system-wide prejudice against Jedi interference. His attempts to contact the leaders of Jusadih were accompanied by transmissions intercepted by the Intelligence Directorate, calling for Jedi assistance. By now, the entire town is frantically attempting to reach the defenders of peace and justice, and eventually, someone will get through.

The Jedi must not find us; it would be the end of Plagueis. We cannot stop this uprising without the Force, which would reveal us. The risk is too great; only one option remains.

Satal's Landing must be purged.

Write a minimum one page fiction depicting our arrival at Satal's Landing. We cannot just bombard it from orbit; this action would be seen, and would draw undue attention upon us. You may write your own actions, those of other characters, or both. Remember, the Aedile has ordered the deaths of everyone in the town - you may either comply, try to sneak citizens out, or simply defect to the rebels. The choice is yours, but will be played upon in future events. Remember to use military Star Wars elements such as jamming communications, turret weaponry, and even shield technology. Any non-orbital action is fair game.

The winner's entry will form the basis of a future plot update, but the Summit reserves the right to modify the circumstances surrounding Swyft's fate. The Ascendant Standard of Competition will be used to judge this event, and can be found on the Wiki. Please send all entries in according to the Standard, to ensure swift and accurate marking. Entries sent outside of this will still be counted.

Platform

Fiction, one page minimum.

Comments

Only the forces of Plagueis, the locals of Satal's Landing, and possibly the JIC rebels will be involved in this - the town is locked down. Unless they are properly explained, other entities present could negatively affect your score. Remember, also, that our soldiers are not machines; they are well trained and loyal, but their allegiance has limits.

Write well, have fun, and Adapt, Ascend, Avail!
