Nah, I'm just kidding. It was that naughty man Georgiou Alexis Jr who used his engineering skills to make the speeder malfunction so he could take over the family.

Perhaps the character's name was based on my own...Georgiou Alexis is remarkably similar to Alex George....eh, Jon?

I believe it was actually Georgiou Alexis Jr. and none of the three suspects. I come to this conlusion as all three suspects had no reason to kill Alexis Sr. Alexis Jr. however, killed his father so 1. He could take over the family business and clan. And 2. So he could phrame it on the Drakers, who are rivals of Alexis and so he would have hoped to take them down so he could control more of the system wide shipping companies and that means..more credits.

He did the crime so he can take over as family head

He used his droid to mess with the patriarch speeder, then had its memory erased.

Georgiou Alexis Jr. He would have had the engineering knowhow (presumably) to rig the speeder in the way the mechanic described. He would not have had to leave the home to commit the crime, simply rig the speeder in the proper manner and wait for the explosion.

Georgiou Alexis Jr. committed the murder, with his knowledge of engineering as proofed by his degree in his office and the explanation given by the Chief mechanic, he appears the most obvious answer. His motivation would be to run the family and have control of the money for his own.

The person that commited the crime is the new Patriach of the Alexis clan, Georgiou Alexis Jr.

Only 2 people have the skills to alter the speeder. The Mechanic has no motivation to do the crime an the Georgiou who learnt engineering at Uni. Thus making him only person able to do so.

Georgiou Alexis Jr. to get Georgiou Alexis Sr. out of the way and become head of the family. If none of the original suspects did it that left only one person with motive and the means to do it with the knowledge he acquired while attending the Yaga Minor University of Engineering.

Why: Georgiou had the most to gain and the knowledge to do it. He wanted to be in charge of the business.
How I came to this: After reading the whole scene I kept going back to the first guy that was brought forth in the scene. He put on airs and didn’t like it when he was questioned back. Jr. also seemed too relaxed then upset with the whole thing. He wanted to blame the other family too quickly. The others didn’t have the background that Georgiou did as well other than the mechanic. Yet the mechanic had no motive in the case.
Georgiou had motive in wanting the family business, as well as a degree in engineering so he knew how to tamper with a speeder. He also wanted to tell you just how upset everyone in the family was but didn’t say how upset he was.
The other family may have wanted the guy dead but they didn’t seem to be able to do it. The old guy had care givers that all had the same story.
The Person I feel who did it and reason behind it are simple. Georgiou wanted the business for himself and his father gone. He knew what he was doing and who to blame he just did a poor job of framing the other family.

Georgiou Alexis Jr had the most to gain from this killing, he inherited control of the family however, I believe it was the son and Georgiou Alexis Jr working together for mutual control but keeping the original successor in place to side track any suspicions that may come their way.

Reasoning: Jr. has the most to gain from such a situation. With Sr. out of the picture, Jr. would take the reigns of the family to become head of house. With his background in Engineering, as portrayed through the distinctions and awards via the datapad, he would have the know how to complete such a malfunction. First guess would have been the obvious Mechanic, but as they have nothing to gain from such a situation, they can be ruled out immediately. With pinning the murder on the Draker Family, they would be taken out of comission, at least for a time, from their trade while further investigations were to commence, thus giving the Alexis Family full contract to do business with the Brotherhood and other System wide trading solely.

7: the other suspects lacked the ability (the Draker Patriarch - lost marbles, needed personal care, the Patriarch’s son - thick, clueless) or the means (the Draker Chief Mechanic - has the knowledge but not the money or backing to carry it out)

Georgiou Alexis Jr. committed the crime. The son of the family Patriarch and a graduate of the Yaga Minor University of Engineering would have the means and knowledge to cross wired the repulsorlift drive of his fathers speeder. His motivation to do it would to become the new head of the family. As the new head of the family he could easily try to put the blame on House Draker so he could take out the competition.

It was Georgiou Alexis Jr, who killed his father. He killed him to take control of the family business, and force the Drakers out to give him system-wide shipping control and power over the system.

I came to this because of his knowledge of engineering, and his model ships (a slight giveaway with his degree, it meant he knew the inner workings of ships/speeders) and the only Draker who could have done it, was unable to have due to lack of motive and no possessions that could have enabled him to.

Georgiou Alexis Jr. Killed his father. According to the interview with the mechanic, the speeder bike had to tampered by someone who knows what they're doing. Georgiou Alexis Jr. went to an engineering school and obviously did well according to the accolades and honors displayed. He also has model ships displayed so would be interested and most likely know the make up of various ships and other transportation modes. He also has motivation. By killing his father he can assume the deceased's power and wealth, and by blaming it on the feuding family he could get away with his crime and his enemies in one swift strike.

Georgiou Alexis Jr is the culprit. He is the only one with motive (take out the opposing family/competitor) and sufficient background to accomplish the task (attended university of engineering)

There could be three people responsible in this case: the Junior, the Mechanic and the Draker Patriarch. Either the Mechanic or the Junior can rig it themselves, providing that the Junior has multiple awards. Obviously, he wouldn't do that, so the only one possible to bomb the speeder would be the mechanic. Now, this leads to another question: Who paid the Mechanic to do so? It could be the other Patriarch or Alexis Junior himself. The Junior would be the suspicious one. He is the Alexis Patriarch's son, so he would know what his father is doing i.e riding a speeder. He could do this with 2 motivations: To be the head of the family, or to accuse the opposing family for them to pay for the crime they didn't commit. But the financial records of the Mechanic is clean? The Junior could easily pay him the money when the case has sunk. In conclusion, the Mechanic is the one who actively commit the crime, and the Junior passively killed his father.

Georgiou Alexis Jr. was the killer. He had a motive to become the new head of the family and received awards from Yaga Minor University of Engineering giving him enough knowledge on how to commit the murder. He snatched the award out of my hand when I grabbed it and knew who to blame and shove his guilt onto.
