Xen'Mordin Vismorsus-Palpatine's private bureau had seen a lot of grim days. It was this very room from which the Emperor decided the fate of his Cocytus System. Six planets, twenty-three moons, countless asteroids; all guided by the light of the Emperor.
But where is light, there are shadows.
All sorts of bad news came from the shadows. Spectres. Vermin. Conspirators. Criminals. Arconans.
Xen'Mordin's mind was on the conspirators and criminals. The latter routinely delivered gear and recruits to the former if the price was right. And the conspirators... despite his self-control, he snarled silently as he remembered The Cause, the Scions Of Cocytus, and the freshest threat, the Survivors. The Imperial forces were still recovering from the actions taken to wipe those out.
He glanced at his guest before he looked down at the datapad in his hand for what must have been the fiftieth time. The dimmed lights left the man in the shadows, leaning at the wall next to the entrance. Only an elaborate and fiery forearm tattoo and a never-ceasing smile could be seen with some clarity.
The datapad's contents were much less obfuscated. A short introduction lead to columns and more columns of names and numbers, linking Cocytus' organized and parts of the unorganized crime to a great many threats the Empire had endured. It was no news. News was the proposal at the end of the presentation.
Let's take it over!
One simple proposal which could open a new war, on a front the Consul and the members of his inner circle were not familiar with. But his visitor was. He had proven his familiarity with the bad side of society time and again, first as undercover agent within The Cause, and then again when he entered the efforts against the Survivors late and turned a quiet war into a landslide of terror.
The man in the shadows had presented his arguments and laid out a plan. All the Consul had to do was decide. And quite frankly, there was much to gain. He read through the datapad for the fifty-first time and then inhaled sharply.
"Kneel."
His visitor stepped up to him and knelt, his head bowed.
"Jorm Na'Trej, I accept your proposal. Recruit from the Clan whomever you need. Do this quick. Do not let the vacuum of power spiral out of control. Bring the underworld under our reign. Do. Not! Make me regret taking this jest seriously."
With that, he signed the electronic documents and passed the datapad back to Jorm. The Knight smiled a trace wider.
"By your command."
Good Day CSP! This is a follow-up competition to "Survivors". Lore-wise, this is an operation to take over crime in the Cocytus System to reduce our enemies' ability to gather strength, and to funnel criminally generated revenue into the Empire's treasury. By the end of it, CSP will run the organized crime in the whole system, and the winners of each sub-competition will be taken into Clan lore. If I'm really impressed with the second places and they don't interfere with the winners, those too. Sounds good? Check out the sub-competitions below!
Each competition will award points for placing in the top five. These points will be totalled, with the top scorers earning crescents in this parent competition. Should there be a tie, the person who participated in more subcomps takes the cake. If the tied tie in that regard too, the first to send in his or her last submission comes out ahead.
