Primary reason

Sadly, I'm always pretty bad at getting these recommendations out on time, and all too often they end up being seen as parting gifts. This award is not a parting gift. This is something that Armags earned time and time again in his time as Aedile of House Dinaari. Something that I always try to preach whenever someone asked me about leadership in the Brotherhood is to know your own limitations. Know your skill set, and know what you can and can't handle. Armags is an extremely busy man, and when Rax resigned from Quaestor, I asked Armags if he wanted to take over as Quaestor. Armags said he'd love to, but he didn't have the time to devote to the position. He turned down advancement in the DB, in his "career" for the good of the Clan.

Anyone who knows Armags knows that he's exactly that type of person. An unashamed gamer who had a penchant for supporting the poorer of the console gaming systems, he none the less had been working hard to become acquainted with the fictional side of the DB, because he knew how important it had become to the club. Armags worked outside of his comfort zone, while maintaining an excellend standard of activity. He was involved in the running of 15 competitions, and participated in twice that number. He was extremely active in gaming, earning over 600 gaming Clusters since his promotion, and also chalked up some crescents and pendants of blood along the way.

Unfortunately Armags recently had to resign his place as Aedile, and while I will miss having his skills and presence on Taldryan's summit, more than anything I will miss his honesty and integrity. Armags has always known what it meant to be a member of Taldryan, and Taldryan waits in great anticipation for his return.

In recognition of all his efforts for Taldryan, I hereby award Armags C'Hiesa a Steel Cross. Thank you Armags.

Additional reasons

When Armags decided to stay as AED and not take the position of Quaestor; it allowed me to apply and be selected for this role. He supported my role; and helped mentor me to become a better QUA. It is this that the club needs the most; those who are willing to help others become better in their leadership position; and not take the limelight themselves. I think this speaks greatly to Armags' character. Not the fictional one; but the one that defines our every day actions. It is this one trait that if all members in the club had; we would be much better for it.

-Omega Kira Quaestor of House Dinaari Clan Taldryan

Armags C'Hiesa, 2015-08-24 17:23:28 UTC

Armags was a fantastic Aedile for Dinaari, and I am sorry to see him go. He continued on as the Aedile because he knew he was the best fit for it - and Aedile being the best fit for him. Since promotion following the GJW in February, Armags has released six Aedile reports, participated in 30 competitions, earned two Pendants of Blood, 4 competition crescents, 3 Clusters of Ice (Armags? Writing? Odd), earned 56 Clusters of Fire and 563 Clusters of Ice. As a leader, he's run or helped to run 15 competitions, and from a summitting perspective, Armags always offers a unique perspective - his classic hardcore gamer attitude is always welcome and frankly, something that is needed, and I for one am glad he had and continues to have that perspective. Armags, you will always be welcome back to the Taldryan summit when the time is right - don't forget that. Thank you for what you've done!

Primary reason

Omega has been a staple in Taldryan, and has grown steadily into his position as one of my trusted Lieutenants. More than that, Omega has taken to heart all of the lessons, and tenets with which I attempt to instill in the leadership of Taldryan, most notably the idea that personal activity is one of the most important factors in being a leader in the Dark Brotherhood.

It's been a little over 5 months since I last rewarded Omega for all of his hard work, and it honestly has never been something he has mentioned... which is another little bit about being a leader in the Brotherhood I like to see: it's not about the recognition, it's about the results... and Omega's results have been formidable.

Since he promotion he has been a force, both organizing and co-organizing 10 competitions, as well as participating in nearly 50. He continues to be active in gaming, earning over 320 gaming clusters, as well as having been active in his less preferred milieu of writing. Omega has taken to heart the lessons his Clan Summit have tried to teach him, and made the knowledge his own. He's truly becoming a leader that Taldryan, and the Brotherhood itself can be proud of.

As a token of my appreciation for all you do Omega, please accept this Steel Cross.

Additional reasons

Omega's been a great Quaestor these past three months, and a wonderful Battletream Leader before that, having put out reports and run a number of competitions. Moreover, he's practicing what he preaches in leadership. He doesn't just tell the members of Dinaari to go participate in competitions - he actually does it himself. Since his last recognition in February, Omega is has participated in 45 competitions, organized/co-organized 10 more, earned 5 Crescents, one Pendant of Blood, 63 Clusters of Fire, 267 Clusters of Earth - and earned the Leadership Dark Maven. The leadership maven tells us something that we can see demonstration from Omega's behaviour - he's becoming a leader (not because he earned a Shadow Academy degree, but because of his competition creation and his overall participation in Brotherhood activities - the degree is just the piece of internet paper confirming it all). Congratulations, Omega!

Primary reason

I don't know how many different types of recommendations I can write for this guy. Part of the reason for that is I have to write them as often as I do, but to be perfectly honest... I probably still don't write them enough. They quite simply just don't make DB members like they used to, and Howie is the perfect example of that. But before I get into the reasons why I am giving Howie this medal, just for fun, I'm going to write out a few of Howie's favourite quotes, which have been repeated hundred of times over, and I'm sure anyone who is familiar with him knows very well.

  • I'm lazy, I don't do things.
  • Activity is for the kids, I'm roster candy.
  • Dammit Yacko, why are you making me do things?
  • Panda!
  • I'll do it after I wash my hair.
  • I need a nap.
  • Hobo?
  • I'm not active, I'm just doing what I think is the bare minimum.

All of those things say a lot about Howie, but the last explains it even more. Howie just thinks he's shirking by at the absolute minimum limit of what he should do in his position. I'm not even going to get into the insanity of his medal obsessions and all he does for Aabs in the MAA's office (since Aabs recently gave him a SB for his work there), but Howie is a man who wears many hats in this Brotherhood, and probably does more under any single one of them than other people do.

Because Howie is a secretly weird combination of hyperactive and awesome, and quite simply: they don't make DBers like him anymore.

Now, lets get into the laundry list of things Howie has done in the last 6 months since I saw fit to give him a medal. Keep in mind that while he's been doing all of these things, he's also been Rollmaster of Taldryan, combined Rollmaster and Proconsul of Taldryan, Special Magistrate and then Praetor to the Master at Arms, as well as a constant thorn in the DGM's side, and I think he's also a grader for a SA course or something. Howie does all those things, and yet he's still managed to participate in a paltry 76 competitions, he's helped run or ran 20 competitions of his own. In the competitions he participated in he earned a total of 25 crescents for excellent entries (.33 Crescents per competition entry isn't bad), as well as having earned over 1200 combined gaming clusters.

Howie somehow has also managed to earn 4 Clusters of Ice in this time, and has completed an ACC battle. I realize compared to the other numbers, those ones look low, but when you realize how badly he hates writing, it's an amazing feat.

Howie's my right hand man. He's as important to Taldryan as he is to the Brotherhood as a whole, and he's pretty awesome in general, though outside of official recommendation correspondence I'll deny ever having said that.

Oh, and he's also going to complain I gave him a medal right now because somehow despite all he's done, he doesn't think he's earned one yet. This is what I have to put up with.

Take your Grand Cross Howie, and shut up, you deserve it.

Although Vordhall went of the radar at this point (let us hope he finds his way back) and he's close to joining the Rogues, I'd like to look back at the path he has taken. It only took Vordhall 5 days, yes that ain't even a week, to rise to the rank of Neophyte. He made passing SA-courses look as easy as taking a blaster from a sleeping stormtrooper, as he took 7 of them in no time and scored 100% on 5 of those.Already at the third day of his DB-membership Vordhall earned the Dark Maven Combat Degree. A great Journeymen that deserves a Merit Award for his efforts.
