The BD-unit Backpack Droid is a small bipedal droid designed to assist with research and exploration in remote and dangerous locations. It has a flat rectangular head with two photoreceptors, a small body, and two legs with clampable feet, allowing it to climb a person's body or other surfaces and traverse many different kinds of terrain . It is equipped with various tools; including a holocam and holoprojector, computer link, and a spotlight.
BD-unit Backpack Droid is subjected to frequent memory wipes, and has little to nothing in the way of personality. It acts according to its basic programming in an efficient and impersonal manner.
BD-unit Backpack Droid has been fitted with a built-in SCOMP link, allowing this BD-unit Backpack Droid to slice into various types of terminals and droids.
BD-unit Backpack Droid has been fitted with a portable power pack that not only increases its own sustainment longer than standard BD-unit Backpack Droids, but also enables it to recharge many power sources through additional charging ports compatible with common power grids across the galaxy.
