Prototype: 3PO-series Protocol Droid

The 3PO-series Protocol Droid is designed with a specialized vocabulator and an encyclopedic knowledge of languages and cultural information. It possesses a standardized humanoid design, available in a wide array of colors but all possessing the same basic form with its notably restrained range of movement. It also possesses an advanced VerboBrain that enables it to quickly analyze new languages and translate them into more well-known ones.

Silver And Gold (Droid Cosmetic)

Barney Stinson has been altered to appear more as a token of wealth than your typical 3PO-series Protocol Droid. Silver paint has been applied to the droid's exterior, allowing for accented gold plating in order to create a contrast and draw attention to the supposed credit value the droid represents.

Automated Repair (Droid Modification)

Barney Stinson has received advanced automated repair programming based on the original 3PO-series Protocol Droid schematics, giving it an ability to perform or assist in the performance of self-diagnosis and self-repair of its mechanical systems. This system engages automatically upon damage, and can render the droid temporarily unavaialble while it assesses any necessary repairs before further action can be taken.

How I Met Your Mother (Droid Personality)

This droid's personality has slowly developed over time to apply its knowledge of over 6 million forms of communication in the pursuit of the ancient art of pick-up lines. It will flirt with anyone regardless of species (includes droids) or gender, but this protocol is only executed when the subject is an adult of their species. Unfortunately, this droid never really understood the nuances of organic social norms when it comes to mating. In addition, its memory banks are full of mostly horrible pickup lines. Though a rare gem may be used, most of the time the unfortunate target will be bombarded with such lines as "nice shoes, wanna kriff?" and "are you an angel?".
