The R2-series Astromech Droid is a popular line of astromech droids designed to fit in the droid socket of any starfighter. It is commonly designed with a domed or tapered code head, with a cylindrical core in addition to a base, retractable tread leg and two main legs. It has multiple appendages and attachments within its compartments, such as shock prods, welding torches, and is equipped with a holoprojector and a periscope that has a probe function which is usable in space.
R2-C5 has developed a personality focused around the superiority of droids. As a result, R2-C5 will often question any orders it receives and will not hesitate to present its own alternatives. While still capable of following orders as directed, R2-C5 will not comply without at least a partial debate.
R2-C5 has been equipped with small rocket boosters proportionate to its size, allowing this R2-series Astromech Droid to fly in sustained flight up to 5-meters in height and requires 2 minutes in cooldown between bursts to prevent overheating.
R2-C5 has been painstakingly cared for, and even upon close examination it appears as though R2-series Astromech Droid was freshly off the manufacturing line. Absent of any scratches, dents or even the slightest imperfections, the only thing missing is the new droid smell.
