The HK-model Gladiator Droid, also known as the HK Assassin Unit, is a highly advanced combat and protocol droid designed for subterfuge, infiltration, and combat. It has advanced protocols and redundancies that allow it to continue to fight until the very end and serve as an excellent infiltration droid.
An experimental automated repair system has been installed on this HK-model Gladiator Droid, giving it an ability to perform or assist in the performance of self-diagnosis and self-repair of its mechanical systems. This system slows the droid while it assesses any necessary repairs when dealing with heavy damage, and can perform very basic tasks or actions while assessing necessary repairs.
HK-72 has been fitted with a built-in comlink that has been encrypted, allowing it to access and communicate securely and safely over various communications networks without additional gear.
HK-72 has had every external component painted black as night, with attempts to minimize the brightness of external lights and features. This allows this HK-model Gladiator Droid to more easily blend into the shadows and darkness unseen.
A retractable blade just over a foot in length has been installed inside this HK-model Gladiator Droid, allowing it to defend itself and perform close quarters melee attacks without the need for an additional weapon.
HK-72 has developed a predatory nature similar to those often associated with assassin droids. As a result, HK-72 will often approach a situation with the mind set of a hunter, and convey their findings as such. This can be disconcerting to others who are unaccustomed to HK-72.
