The Mortis Crystal is a unique Lightsaber Focusing Crystal that appears to originate from the realm of Mortis. First discovered over 2,000 years before the Battle of Yavin on a planet in Wild Space, the crystal eventually found its way into the possession of Darth Plagueis The Wise, who sought the crystal as part of his quest to master the power of Transference. The crystal has a unique ability to channel the Force via an energy conduit, and when placed within a lightsaber it allows the saber itself to form that conduit. The user of the weapon is able to replenish their expended Force energy by drawing Force energy from any living creature struck by the blade. The conduit can work in either direction, however, with a sufficiently more powerful Force user able to draw energy from the wielder instead. The Mortis Crystal is typically granted to a member of Clan Plagueis by the Consul based on merit and achievement.
