The Rakatan Energy Transfer Device is an ancient technological artifact that predates the foundation of the Republic. It is built using the same stone-like material as many examples of Rakatan technology, and is roughly a half a meter long. The device seems to have been designed as a form of capital punishment for criminals during the height of the Infinite Empire. On lower settings, the device can be used in order to heal one person while only draining some life force from the other user. If used on the maximum setting, however, the device can kill the other user. The amount of life energy consumed from the donor is directly proportional to the injury or ailment being cured, with terminal conditions exchanging one life for the other. The device was acquired by Darth Plagueis to study during his search to unlock the Sith power of Transference. The Rakatan Energy Transfer Device is typically granted to a member of Clan Plagueis by the Consul based on merit and achievement.
