The BD-unit Backpack Droid is a small bipedal droid designed to assist with research and exploration in remote and dangerous locations. It has a flat rectangular head with two photoreceptors, a small body, and two legs with clampable feet, allowing it to climb a person's body or other surfaces and traverse many different kinds of terrain . It is equipped with various tools; including a holocam and holoprojector, computer link, and a spotlight.
A sophisticated active data retrieval system has been installed in BD-12, allowing this BD-unit Backpack Droid to track the motions of Kah’ri Marru and provide real-time feedback on the the specifics of objects in their line of sight by visualizing them through a small holoprojector. Data provided this way is superficial, similar to that found on the HoloNet or previously loaded into BD-12's memory core.
BD-12 has been painstakingly cared for, and even upon close examination it appears as though BD-unit Backpack Droid was freshly off the manufacturing line. Absent of any scratches, dents or even the slightest imperfections, the only thing missing is the new droid smell.
BD-12 has developed a quirked personality, granting it an inclination towards heavy doses of sarcasm when engaged in dialogue. As a result, BD-12 comes across as having issues taking direction and developed a reputation for 'snark'.
This BD-unit Backpack Droid has been fitted with an extendable data probe, allowing BD-12 to access and operate terminals and other computers.
