The BD-unit Backpack Droid is a small bipedal droid designed to assist with research and exploration in remote and dangerous locations. It has a flat rectangular head with two photoreceptors, a small body, and two legs with clampable feet, allowing it to climb a person's body or other surfaces and traverse many different kinds of terrain . It is equipped with various tools; including a holocam and holoprojector, computer link, and a spotlight.
Stilts makes a mark that is immediately apparent upon first setting eyes upon it. Looking like the victim of an explosion of color, Stilts is covered in multi-hued designs and patterns utilizing as many variations as possible. While appearing to be random upon first glance, there is a certain uniformity to the chaotic display of the artist.
Stilts has developed an obsessive personality centered around the concept of self-improvement. Stilts truly believes itself to be superior to any other BD-unit Backpack Droid and capable of accomplishing great feats. This drive aids it in accomplishing its tasks, but sometimes will result in unexpected additional outcomes.
Stilts has been fitted with basic waterproof seals on its joints and openings, allowing this BD-unit Backpack Droid to be submerged in water without suffering catastrophic damage
A small floodlight has been installed into Stilts's head, allowing this BD-unit Backpack Droid to illuminate a small area in front of it.
