Prototype: BD-unit "Survivor Edition" Backpack Droid
The BD-unit "Survivor Edition" Backpack Droid is a modified version of the BD-unit Backpack Droid. It has been fitted with additional tools and resources such as a macrobinocular "BD Vision" mode that allows a person to look through their photoreceptors and highlight targets and destinations, a stim dispenser, SCOMP link, a thruster for hovering and quick bursts, a droid hacking matrix, and more powerful computer access and slicing link.
BD-99 (Beedee, Nines) has been painstakingly cared for, and even upon close examination it appears as though BD-unit "Survivor Edition" Backpack Droid was freshly off the manufacturing line. Absent of any scratches, dents or even the slightest imperfections, the only thing missing is the new droid smell.
BD-99, like most of the rare BD units in the galaxy, is a cheerful and inquisitive droid, though beneath his companionable demeanor is lionhearted determination and fierce loyalty to his friend, Adem Bol'era. The droid prefers his shoulder and stays near him unless given a specific task or finds something of note to scan, otherwise keeping watch for unseen threats and monitoring his partner's health. BD-99 does not hesitate to intervene when Adem is in serious danger, placing himself in harm's way with bold and decisive actions to protect his friend. This trust has forged a powerful bond between droid and Jedi, and as such, they are virtually inseparable.
