Marick Arconae has served on the new ACC's staff since the projections inception. Marick has served in multiple roles as content creator, administrator, course designer, and guide writer. These roles have been tremendous in their scope and herculean in their effort. Throughout Marick's tireless efforts he has always been driven by the principle of delivering content that enhances and improves the average members experience in the Dark Brotherhood. This began with his work on the creation of character sheet guides, species creation submission sheets, and multiple other projects designed to help our members create character sheets. Marick's efforts as an administrator for the Voice staff saw him approve, remand, and provide content on hundreds of character sheets. He would purposely take the time and effort to provide feedback to members who had their character sheets remanded and would often email them to help walk them through the process. Wally continued his work in the realm of mentorship by developing the ACC Shadow Academy Exams designed to teach our members how to participate in our new story driven ACC. These exams and their new function as qualification tools for the ACC required a level of detail and explanation that few exams can boast. Marick crafted them in a manner to help and improve our club's ability to participate in this avenue of activity. Lastly, Marick has written and designed an multiple guides (CS Guide, CS Approval Guide) relating to the ACC/Character sheets that further clarify any potential misunderstandings our members may have. These guides were written with no direction and guidance and were solely the fruits of Wally's desire to help our membership. Marick is a master mentor in our club with a focus on helping every member to enjoy our organization. An award like the Ruby Scepter was designed for members like him. Congrats! - Grand Master Pravus

Wally has always been my deputy of sorts, but his most important work of late has been as a mentor and teacher for new members working through designing custom Aspects. Wally is incredibly creative and has gotten very good at helping guide and develop member's character sheet Aspects. While he sometimes seems overzealous, he is driven by a desire to help every single member that submits a CS. Wally has added most all of the new races added to the system recently, has been proposing new feats, and has worked tirelessly to see that member concerns are addressed in his CS work. On top of this, he is by far the fastest to clear and approve the character sheets in the Queue.

This same attitude towards mentoring was visible when he originally proposed the two tests for the ACC, the first of which, ACC fundamentals, is used virtually verbatim from his first proposal. He continues to be one of the faster judges over the course of the Open Beta, and he served as one of the small number of Closed Beta testers.

Overall, Wally's strong drive to continually improve the members of this club and to help them understand and enjoy the systems he helps create make him perfect for the Ruby Scepter... So congratulations, Wally! ~ Mav

Marick “Wally” Tyris has spent the seven months since his previous sacramental award tackling projects, handling day-to-day duties as a Dark Councilor, and planning a major event, and doing so with the exceptional dedication that has defined his career as Voice. In addition to his role overseeing such major projects and plots, he maintained staff and oversaw the fiction community that supported the development of member’s characters leading into and through the latest Great Jedi War. His impact on a number of member’s characters and experiences as part of the DJB was greatly felt, and he leaves the position of Voice and indeed the Brotherhood as a whole a better place than when he joined the Dark Council.

His most important contribution over the last seven months has been in the fictional development of our club. Perhaps most notably are his written works, as he has written 7 fiction updates since his last award, including an interlude, a chapter, and epilogue to Brotherhood Rising, as well as the prologue, chapter 1, chapter 2 and finale for the latest Great Jedi War. These fictions established a new faction, and opened and closed a Vendetta. The most noteworthy of course were his recent work on the Great Jedi War, and Wally’s final fiction incorporated dozens of members and covered every Clan, an enormous undertaking that wrapped up the War plot and created the perfect opportunity for future development, Brotherhood-wide.

Along with the fictions during the Vendetta, Wally helped organize a venue creation competition, two different multi-objective fictions in each phase, a miscellaneous competition as well as a combat writing event. He helped to develop the prompts, answer questions and grade during the conclusion and results. He also helped manage Severian Principate competitions for world-building and NPC creation and helped to build out the details of the faction and outline who this new potential ally was for members with organization charts and details.

After all the above, he helped to close out his time as Voice with administrative updates and housekeeping to help make sure the transitionto the next Voice was seamless. For all this great work on the Dark Council as Voice since his last award, we strongly recommend for Wally a Ruby Scepter. Congratulations Wally!

For the last half year, Wally has played a major role in helping to implement RP as a regular DB activity. As the club's second Exarch, he led his staff through long, data-intensive discussions and analysis of how DBers have been RPing in order to develop milestones for the new Envoy Corps. Wally worked closely with James to define an entirely new dual-track "supplementary society" using the preexisting trophy system. The final product is something unique in the club but still connected to all of our other systems.

I also need to add that last year Wally helped lead a small team in rewriting and modernizing the Consul's Handbook. It was not nearly as large a project as the Envoy Corps, but it required sifting through an extremely outdated manual to find the good bits and then rewrite and reorganize the rest. All in all, great work, Wally!

Make a society. Well, not a "society." I don't know, some sort of incentive structure where when people do stuff they get stuff. You'll figure something out. It should be tiered, unless it shouldn't. See what James thinks. Oh, maybe there could be two of them? It definitely needs to have all the society stuff. We'll just call it a pillar or something. Oh, we can't do two of them, way too many credits. They'd have to be half sized. And this is a society, the other ones are pillars. Maybe just do one track but make sure it covers GMing and participating. And this isn't a society, we were being metaphorical when we called the other ones pillars. This can't be a society anyway, the INQ already covers CI stuff. What? This is why you thought it shouldn't be on the CI in the first place? But it's just fiction. No, we can't just use the INQ, RP isn't just fiction, it needs its own thing. But James says it has to be its own two things using the trophy system because otherwise it'll be a nightmare to code.

I suspect when people saw the Envoy Corps launch, they thought that the hard part was, you know, the Envoy Corps. The lore, the unlocks, the progression, that stuff. As the person who dumped this task on Wally's lap, I can say authoritatively that all that was the easy part, not least because he had a lot of help. The hard part was actually getting the thing done. Every tiniest aspect was picked apart and debated, including what the goal was, if it was happening, how we were even allowed to talk about it. The rewards themselves went through no fewer than three separate approval processes: Voice for the feats, Regent for the items, Herald for the dossier skins. The whole thing had all of those people (and the DC at large and the Exarch staff and other helpers) weighing in on the overall design, and then James reviewing it to make sure it was actually doable. Almost all of those people are opinionated, busy, and have their own equities to manage. At every single point in the process, things had the potential to stall but only the Exarch was going to keep it moving.

I spent six months talking through the stupid thing without even truly getting started. In that amount of time, Wally was able to gently shoo me away and then get the entire project designed and launched, and now I'm joining sessions and interacting with other members I don't even know just so I can get some sweet sweet Envoy Marks. Lasting impact achieved.

I come hither to bear witness unto the deeds and capabilities of Marick Tyris, aka Wally, aka Boo-boo Bear. Sir Wall has done phenomenal work for Club and Clan, as clearly conveyed by my commenting compatriots, so my care is to give just cause by conveyance of competitions, Crescents, and Clusters. And you have no idea how happy I am that our system supported that alliteration.

Since his last recognition last January, Wallball participated in a solid eighty competitions, not including containers or brackets (which would bring it up to eighty nine), averaging just shy of six competitions per month. Depending on which number you go with, his eighteen Crescents and four Novae give him a rough average of 25% placement rate. This mathematical wizardry tells us that not only does he like to #doallthethings, he also puts out solid products. What's more, twenty seven of those competitions were pure Vendetta material as evidenced by his Seals of Ascension. Completionist energy, yo.

Now, for a guy that has done so much to stand up the Brotherhood's roleplay society, it comes as absolutely no surprise that Wallson — again, in only a little over a year — has cranked out a tremendous 90,798 words of fiction (for comparison, The Hobbit hovers at just over 95 thousand; mull on that poodoo). This has earned him a lovely two hundred ten Clusters of Ice to go with his collection of other Clusters: thirty five of Graphite, eighty two of Earth, and one hundred of Fire. He also earned a Dark Side Scroll for his work on the BT Voidbreaker wiki and getting it as the featured article; and a Scroll of the Master for bringing up our own Mex from tiny newblet to JM4.

Wallker Edgelord Ranger is truly a powerhouse member of Arcona and the Club as a whole, and he very likely deserves more credit than he gets. For now, I hope he appreciates his new shiny beating stick, and the utter shenanigans of this note on his dabalicious self. Thank you, Wally.

Consul, Clan Arcona

As a Battleteam Leader, Wally does what he always does, in all he does: goes 110%, Plus Ultra. He regularly put out reports, lead by constant example in participating in every single DB, Clan or House event that came up, minor or major, and always went above and beyond doing as much as he could for his team. Whether this was hosting fictional parties in RP, defining team lore and spirit, promoting and awarding his members, teaching leadership skills and practical competition skills and literally anything else brought up, answering questions, participating in discussion and CREATING discussion and community, being a listening ear and friend...Wally. Does. Everything. Everywhere. All at once. None of us can keep up with him. And we're all grateful for his care, time, and attention, as a leader, advisor, Arconae, member, and friend.

That attention, as attested, is not limited to his BTL role. It has been for the whole Club for the last decade and last year. It's noteworthy that of those written words Q mentions to make Roleplaying a reality in the DB, 31207 of those words were participating for the express purpose of engaging other to participate, and 35001 are from DMing the roleplay itself to create that experience for others. There wouldn't be RP without him. It's a big success in our Clan with his help, and it's wonderful to see it coming to the Club at large too, as I can attest both as an observer and a recent staff member under him.

Thank you for everything, Wally. May this award be another signifier to what comes next.

Wally has continued to drive the RP train forward with remarkable success. During the first year of the Envoy Society's operation, more than two million words were written across nearly 200 completed RPs by over 150 different members. Wally was not personally involved in most of those RPs, and a great deal of credit is due to his staff and to the members and leaders of our seven clans for RP's incredible success, but it's safe to say that Wally has used his role to encourage widespread adoption of RP and to provide tools and advice to those interested in trying it. Without his contributions, I'm confident that RP would not be as successful as it has become.

In addition to his Exarch work (which also included running a DB-wide survey and working to implement some tweaks to Golden Envoy Mark awarding in response to it), Wally has helped out as my magistrate most significantly by drafting the One-Year XP Survey.

Wally is a member that seems to find the word retirement an insult or maybe a challenge. Probably a challenge. When I joined the brotherhood, he was my Battleteam Leader. As I moved up, he went off to go help found the Exarch society and then later run it himself, while never losing his status as a powerhouse of activity. All while having been in so many positions in the club historically it's ridiculous. This will be his fifth purple stabby.

To this day, Wally is a well of information, advice and a safe space to scream into. He supported myself and Arcona as a whole this January, both in comforting, soundboarding and serious commentary on how to handle the times. This has been through both Brotherhood channels as well as through dms and hasn't stopped. He also continued to invest in Arcona's story line, proposing ideas to me and Zuji recently to help buff out smaller details of lore and give our members more to chew on. This is hours of his time dedicated to the very being of the clan itself.

And, gathering numbers, this has all been while: Participating in 27 competitions, earning 2 Crescents with Sapphire Stars, 2 with Emerald and funky Topaz. He has also completed an ACC battle, 1 regular fiction activity, participated in 5 roleplays and mastered 4 for a total of 82 Clusters of Ice. 3 News posts, 2 Clusters of Graphite, a Dark Side Scroll, 2 Scrolls of Foundation and 23 Seals of Transcendence. Y'know, casually. All while being the Exarch and a Magistrate to the Grand Master. Obligatory nerd call out here.

It feels good to get to write you a recommendation this time Wally, and I can't wait until I inevitably need to do so again. Give this one to Zig for me so she and Zuza can match!

Envoy Zuza Lottson, 2024-03-29 19:04:12 UTC

Wally, without hesitation, has been very helpful when I took the position as QUA.

He spent a few hours out of his time during the day to share a screen with me and showed me the ways of wikipedia before the changes arrive. Much to our amusement, they had arrived three days after Wally taught me.

Recently, I had to step away for a bit and without even needing to ask or beg, Wally helped by pulling three shy Qel-Droma members into a rp that's been ongoing since January. He also made sure they are getting opportunity in the same roleplay. Last I checked in, they were enjoying themselves and I thank Wally for massively helping me out. He deserves that Ruby Scepter! Well done!
